I hope they instigate a similar system with giving out DUI's. Throw away the breathalyzers and just try and eye the person over and see if they're drunk. I'm pretty good at hiding it.

They need to turn this over to Kevin Costner.

I guess for me it is a matter of degrees. I can't tell when a person is doing 30mph in my 25mph neighborhood but I have no problem telling they are speeding when they are doing 40mph (and I have some choice words for them) and I have no special training. Cops make judgment calls all of the time. Resisting arrest and disorderly conduct are just a few. They allow cops to maintain safety and order and when used with proper training and within guidelines they are valuable tools. Are they applied unevenly or even abused? Most likely but what is the alternative? We could remove those tools or we could restrict their use so severely that loopholes open up all over the place.

No police department in my township.

And I have gone on a ride a long before. Doesn't show anything. It's just like how everyone straightens up and goes by the book when the boss is around but takes shortcuts when he's gone.

A week ago I saw a cop do a rolling stop at a 4 way stop sign and then whip around and arrest someone for doing the same. I see cops speeding almost every time I see a squad car.

Easy way to get out of this ticket. Tell them you will commit all of your extra free time to call in on Police vehicles for speeding based on your estimation. Worked once for me when a cop pulled me over for speeding on the road the Police Station is on and he got me with a radar gun. I told him "I was going slower than every policeman I have ever seen drive on this road. Do you want me to start doing rolling checks on every cop car I see and call them in to the Police Station?" No ticket because he knew I was right, and I think he believed I would do it.

This.

I was once pulled over for going 35 in a 25 at 5:00am, and after I was arrested the cop driving me back to the station was going 35 on the same road. Hmmmm.... after they were done with the report I said "so could you put it in there that you were driving the same speed I way on the way back? Because I find that highly ironic." And he looked at and with a smirk said "well I can fill out a complaint form for you and then have myself review it and nothing will happen, would that work?"

Fuck the police.

@ Glorydays

So if theyre "visually trained to judge speed" why do they use radar guns? Shouldnt they just be able to eyeball it?

And honestly, Id like to see somekind of study done on this (Not ran by the police) to see how accurate a group of oh 20 or so officers are at eyeballing speed.

I guarantee there is already a study in the works.

Your story makes no sense. You don't get arrested for going 10 over. I am sure after whatever you did to get arrested, you deserved it.

Well technically they already do. If you refuse to take a breathalyzer test they'll still arrest you for a DUI despite not proving your'e drunk.

On the same token though when you get your license you sign a contract saying that you agree to submit to a breathalyzer or face the consequences.

Yes but they still cite you for OVI, not refusal to take a test. That's just an added bonus

They are allowed to arrest you for OVI even if you pass their field tests and a portable breathalyzer. Which seems absurd to me.

Took being pulled over 7 times before my first ticket. They always left me loophole. Obviously never OSHP, they don't make mistakes. That was my 7th time, still pissed though, he got me at a bottom of a big hill going 15 over. He was stationary radaring that spot due to the hill.

Well, radar/laser is quicker to do and is going to be more accurate for the average patrolman checking speeds. most of the ones i have been with, if they arent on a busy road, dont even turn on their radar unless they think you're speeding. i'll check for a study tomorrow, i have been outta town all weekend.

True, you can't be arrested for a minor misdemeanor unless certain criteria are met.
