How does being duped into thinking you have the best product on the market by a really good ad campaign actually feel?!

I actually don't have an iPhone, so jokes on you :D I still sport the Motorola ROKR (or whatever the hell it is). It's OLD.

If that build issue is true...that might mean a massive recall...not good

They wouldn't do a massive recall unless it would be a safety issue or is happening at alarmingly high rates.

This is whats called a "known issue" in the cell phone biz. Not anything to break a sweat over.

Yeah, they wouldn't do anything about it. At best they'd fix it for free if you sent it in with it (of course only after the complaints get so loud that they can't ignore them).

HTC hasn't always been very helpful about issues with their phones that they know about. I'm reminded of their graphics driver issues in 2008 (I think it was 2008). The advertised 3d acceleration as a feature heavily but it never worked because they never released a driver for it. I don't know if they ever did but if they did it was probably more than a year after they knew about it.

Just flashed a custom rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=701004 and updated my radio.... It seems complicated but once you understand it all, it's not that bad!!!

^^^ imex, are you having any of the screen separation issues that HTC and Sprint are addressing?

No sir, pretty good build for me.....

Really love this phone and the customization is amazing and I thought the Palm Pre was crazy!!!!! I follow these two forums, I have free wireless tether app, NFL network app(sprint lost contract to Verizon) but I have the verizon nfl network app on my EVO and the clarity and screen size is awesome.

I flashed the 2.2 froyo rom on my EVO and it freaking flies(no joke). I'll post the linpak benchmarks once I reboot. I have it dualbooting 2 different roms at the moment. I'm running a rooted 2.1 rom that has built in bloatware remover(gets rid of sprint nascar and those apps) and built in backup and other things... Pretty sweet.

Do you know that this "issue" doesn't even affect anything except "light leakage". It doesn't affect the performance of the phone in any way.

I know nothing about it honestly. I just read that that they are addressing it. Does that mean a recall and a replacement phone for the people affected?

Probably not. I'm guessing if the issue is brought up by a customer they'll look into fixing or replacing it, but my htc Hero actually has the same issue. It doesn't really bother me though.

My daughters came in earlier this week, still waiting on mine. She seems to really like it. I like it for the few minutes I can pry it out of her hand...

Hoping this is true

Even if it is not true...most of the high end phones will have it in the early part of August.

Just picked up the EVO Monday night and man this is the best phone I've ever played with and I've played with a ton(used to work for a company who made software for smart phones). The battery sucks but oh well, what can you do. I'm wondering if 2.2 will address battery issue or not. I know everyone who has just recently bought an Android, 4 of my friends have the new AT&T one, their batteries are just as bad. I just read an article today that Sprint will have the update out Aug 2nd.

I've seen that Cincinnati is supposed to be getting 4G at some point before the end of 2010. If that is the case and I still haven't upgraded to iPhone 4 I might look into an Evo.

dudette....all the android batteries suck...I have the Incredible and it is lousy. My kid has the original Droid and it is bad as well. Froyo should help out a little since everything should run more efficiently, but I doubt anyone will be able to tell the difference.

Crazy thing is.....at the end of the year, I am sure the Evo will be outdone for sure. If you follow the droid sites at all...it seems like different rumors are floating around daily.

VZW LTE is coming at the end of the year, might have a smartphone then, but should have at least a couple LTE-capable phone in Q1. While it will take years to finish their nationwide rollout of LTE, they've said it will launch for approx. 1/3 the population (because most live in the large East Coast cities) in 25-30 cities. A poster who works for VZW claims they like to overdeliver, and the rollout will probably be more like 40-50 cities.

Speeds are ridiculous - supposed to be 5-12mbps down (on average, 10X faster than 3G!). They had a test with their wireless cards and people were very impressed (youtube video). Those speeds will run pretty much anything with the exception of streaming blu-ray video.

And the phone that has had everyone excited is due out in Q4 - Motorola's Droid Pro. Rumored specs absolutely crush everything in the market right now.

Well sprint does have the new 4G phone coming out end of August. I was gonna wait but decided that A. I don't like Samsung phones and B. It has a keyboard which I wanted to get away from. I'm also glad I'm now a premiere customer so I can upgrade every year at the 2 year price. Got rid of my SERO plan so I could use my military discount.

Verizon pisses me off sometimes though....they have a tower literally 50 yards from my mom's house, yet she has no reception at all. I stopped in to ask when the tower would be activated(there is actually 3 towers that need activated in the area), they couldn't even verify if it was their tower. They said that if it was theirs...it would be activated by October. Honestly, I think they have a bunch of blithering idiots working in that store....
