ESPN has really gone done hill. I remember getting excited for Sportscenter. Now, I can't stand to watch it. They drag the same lame stories out the whole week. I don't care about Brett Favre, steroids, Tiger Woods new ho, Michelle Wie, Danica Patrick, the Yankees, the Mets, the Dodgers.. etc.... Talk about sports and all the teams. I know they focus on the bigger markets but com'on!!

Agreed. They've gotten progressively worse for the last 10 years I think. The tech wave has something to do with it too--like I said on another thread not long ago, they are more of a rumor mill now than they ever have been. Things like Twitter and Facebook and people's desire for that kind of SHIT is definitely part of the reason.

Exactly. If I wanted pop culture type news, I'd watch Entertainment Tonight. I want stats, highlights, trades.. That's my shit... Not Brett Favre is still in Mississippi playing with his grandkids and not reporting to Vikings training camp and no one knows when he will. We will update you on the same thing tomorrow just so your remember that Brett Favre has not died yet.

And when the bottom line of topics on 1st and 10 looks like this for literally 5 straight days:

Tiger Woods, Tiger Woods, Tiger Woods, Tiger Woods, Tiger Woods, Tiger Woods, Tiger Woods, Elin Woods, PGA

And it's all based on him fucking a bunch of whores, I want to punch the producer in the face.

How many weeks has either one of the following been on Sunday night baseball? Yanks, Red Sox, Mets. I want to say one of those teams has been involved every single week since it started this season. If it isn't every week, then I only missed it by one or two weeks

Thank god for the bottom line though. If it wasn't for that, I would waste my time wondering what they were going to talk about next and then realize they will still be talking about the same thing for the whole segment.

I want to start my own sports channel.

Not only that but it was ABSOLUTELY shitty that the Reds/Indians game was blacked out Saturday on Fox Sports CIN/OHIO because the Yanks/Mets game was on FOX.

I don't care about the Yanks/Mets. I would be more inclined to switch between the 2 games than just watch the one. Instead, I watched neither.

THere is some very strict rules for games on tv going up against the Fox game of the week. Thats why sometimes ya see some messed up times for saturday games.

Thom or the Creeper was talking about it last year on a telecast.......MLB wants to keep FOX happy by not allowing other games to be shown on TV during certain times when the national game is on.

Me too. Would take A LOT of capital to make a big enough impact to have an effect on ESPN--but I don't think there has ever been a better time than now for someone to do it.

Still shitty. I pay the money to watch those channels, I shouldn't be forced to watch a game I don't want. I know, I could get the MLB ticket, but I think that would have been blacked out also probably.

Now would be the best time. ESPN is trying way to hard to be trendy instead of informative. I'd love just to start a good sports web site. I would start one if I knew that it would get enough views.

Well if you do it right, you can assure yourself of that.

If you ever do, keep me in mind. I'd gladly write for it. I may start writing for a small time, local magazine actually.

I could always start up a small site to get rolling. Definitely will keep you in mind. I may not agree with 100% of your posts but I love the detail.

Well, don't worry, I know the difference between writing and informative piece and an opinion piece--if I were writing for something like that it would be different than what I do here--unless I was being asked to write this way.

I'm really considering putting something together. I'm just trying to think of a catchy domain name right now. I'll start lining up contributors next. I'm at work right now so I'm limited on time but I'll let you know.

3 plus pages and no mention of Ricordatti and Torgerson????

Anytime I hear their voices, I turn off The Fan.

Same with Munch...although thank God he is gone from the Columbus airwaves.

Common Man and the Torg annoy me. I know a lot of people like them, but they pick up a line that's funny once and then they run with it and drive it into the ground.. "working at Citgo". Plus they nut-hug Buckeye players while they are in school and then once the guy goes against the "family" they go out of their way to tweak the player, even when there is no context at all. They do that with BJ Mullens all the time. I don't care about BJ Mullens, I don't want to hear about the 12th man for the Thunder. But you can tell they are butt-hurt that he left early after he didn't accomplish a thing at Ohio State

While it is true that they give current Buckeyes a pass, what would you expect? For one, It's Columbus. Nobody wants to hear negative blathering about the current team. If we wanted that, we'd just listed to the national media all the time. Second, the players are just amateurs - they deserve some amount of rope with which to hang themselves. Three, their criticism of former Buckeyes is usually fair. They don't knock Oden, Conley, Cook or Turner for leaving early. Just the idiots that really should have stayed like Koufos and Mullens.

Sure, they're juvenille, but no worse than Cowherd, Van Pelt and Rome. At least with them, you don't get as much arrogance and attitude. They know they are just radio idiots. The others think they are actually a relevant part of the sports world.

Don't get me wrong, sometimes they are absolutely clueless and annoying, but at least you know they aren't toeing the ESPN, OSU or even 97.1 line.

See that is where I don't agree with them. They make me laugh when they say Koufos or Mullens shouldn't have went pro. Let's see both are millionaires and both were 1st round picks.

Neither have shown anything that would suggest they are ever going to be good in the NBA... therefore to me that suggests they made the right move. Let's say Koufos/Mullens stayed, and they have another year like their freshman year. Maybe the NBA all the sudden says to themselves, wow this guy hasn't progressed at all and the NBA is suddenly aware that both they are frauds. Or maybe they get hurt.

If you are a 1st rounder, you go.

Both are only guaranteed ~$2.3mm. After taxes, agent fees, etc., they might have $1 mm left. Not spare change, but nowhere near what they could have made as lottery picks if they had stayed a year or two more and worked on their game.

BTW, thanks for bringing this up. I just emailed Torg the results of a Google search of Koufos that he used on the air. Just Google Kosta Koufos and read the text of the first result.
