I loathe the Yankees, but even I can admit its weird seeing Yankee Stadium gone ... just saw this recent pic:

Sad to see. How much of that stadium did they use when building the new one though? Did they save any of it?

Understand the feeling when going to Detroit and Tiger Stadium is now gone. Very sad when the only historic stadiums are taken away.

It's not gone is it? The backstop is still there in Detroit, right? Or did they finally tear that down as well?

They sold pretty much everything out of it... lockers, seats, foul poles, scoreboards... its rumored Reggie Jackson bought the letters off the top and also bought the black seats...the WHOLE fucking section.
I'll admit I shed a little tear when I saw this picture, and it sucks seeing it all down. But, with a world championship in the new park and some already great moments across the street, its starting to warm on me. Maybe some of the mystique moved across River Ave.

That stadium had the greatest baseball history, but it had so much more than that. Many great football games over the years were played there. Several big championship fights were held there, and many other events took place there. It is sad to see our historic sports arenas torn down.

They're trying too hard to recreate that atmosphere of hosting other events at the new building... the boxing match might be ok, but its definately not a football stadium and not sure who you'd bring in there for a concert.... some things you have to just let die in the old building, and I think that was one of them

^^ Well one of the first big concerts in the new Yankee Stadium will be Eminem and Jay Z. They are only doing 2 shows, one at Yankee Stadium and one at Comerica Park in Detroit.
Sykotyk - Pretty much everything is gone now. No structure remains.

I knew that, and beyond that, I'm not sure what big acts you could bring in.
Saw some pictures of the Paul McCartney concert at Citi Field and some of the seats looked so far away from everything... just looked like it would be a miserable time
