Many from around the state are getting a little tired of the Massilon/Canton area. It's time for a change.

Yep. Not gonna happen. The 'many' from around the state aren't getting tired of Massillon/Canton. They are getting tired of the trip to Massillon/Canton. They need to learn to deal with it because Stark Co. does a great job with it, and OHSAA is very happy with the product that is put out. It's not going to go anywhere. Now, now. I'm sure some will chime in and say 'the attendance is down b/c it's in Stark Co.' False. Attendance is down b/c it's now broadcast LIVE on STO.

Oh come on! What about 'The Shoe'? You know..that place would be great for the games! The place that once you fill it up with all the fans that want to watch the games..STILL looks empty as hell! That wouldn't be a good place to have the games???

Being the Browns are on almost every Sunday in the Columbus area the high school finals would be considered an upgrade.

I'm sure the economy being in the tank hasn't had anything to do with it the past couple of years either...

Id prefer it in columbus. Alot of our league teams make it to state and i would love to go watch as I do travel to many of their playoff games but damn, NE ohio is just too far to go to watch games your teams arent playing in.

I bet if they were in columbus they would increase attendance.

I was at a Finals game in Columbus...Celina vs Brecksville. I was a young'en back then and yea it did look empty but I bet the players would LOVE to play on that field. Ohter states have their finals on NFL or college fields....think it would be cool.

Eh, since it is coming to bid, this is like the one time every 3-5 years that it is a relevant topic.

It's beating a dead horse when people just randomly bring it up every December in the middle of a long-term contract.

OK..so we agree. Guess what. That is where the Columbus officials plan on having it. That's the location the games would be played according to the package they presented to the OHSAA. Having 2 games on Friday, 2 on Saturday, and 2 on Sunday.

Just 5 years ago Stark County set an attendance record for attendance during the Championship games with over 60,000 people showing up. That tells you that obviously TV and the economy is the reason for declining attendance figures.

I, living in Massillon think the finals should be held in C-bus, don't get me wrong, I love having them in my back yard, and I hope they don't move, but, by all rights, they probably should be held in C-bus.

Now, will attendence go up if they move to Ohio Stadium? Maybe, for the first couple of years, people who have never been in the Shoe and finally have an excuse to go, (because a their local team is playing there), and getting tickets to walk through the gates would be as easy as pie.

As far as atmosphere goes, it probably won't match Massillon/Canton, but then again, who knows.

The OHSAA knows what they get with Massillon/Canton, everything else is a crap shoot, yes, even Columbus.

Like I said earlier, they probably belong in Columbus, but I hope they don't move.

If they EVER do move, Columbus is the only place they should be other than Stark County.

Haven't they been held in Columbus before? Yeah, I think they know what they are getting there too.

They haven't been held in Columbus in over 20 years....I hate to break it to ya, but things change.

Twenty years ago, things like atmosphere, being fan friendly, and making as much money as possible wasn't in the forefront as much as it is today.

Also, in case you haven't heard, President Kennedy has been shot.

And..they are offering the same package as 20 years ago. :) In case you haven't heard..it's ALWAYS been about making as much money as possible.

With the Big Ten moving the conference schedule back a week and OSU/Mich now playing the Sat. after Thanksgiving, what does the Columbus proposal plan on doing the years when the state finals fall Thanksgiving weekend?
