Unless the Big10 lowers its academic standards WVU would never be able to join. WVU could never meet those rigid academic standards because the state doesn't have enough students to attract so we need a lot of out of state students. Which means our standards have to remain somewhat lower.

I don't think I'd want them to join anyways. The Big East is a better conference for exposure by playing non-Saturday games and 3 or 4 teams are continually in the top 25. No reason to leave.

I wish the Big (insert number) here would expand and do the championship game, only because I'd like to see all conferences do this. I don't think they should be forced, but it'd be nice to have some uniformity in the sport.

So, how about regardless of who joins, they split the divisions based on the remaining original members and those were weren't part of the original lineup:

Wisconsin
Michigan
Northwestern
Minnesota
Illinois
Purdue

Indiana
Iowa
Ohio State
Michigan State
Penn State
(New team)

I'd probably like to see Notre Dame in a conference, though there's no good reason for them to do so at this point (and if they did, they might as well maintain that tie to the Big East).

Can't see why any Big East team would want to move. None of the Big East teams are going to compete for championships in the way they do as Big East members. And by that, I mean, WVU would be playing for third place most years instead of a BCS bowl. Rutgers would be struggling to be .500 instead of getting semi-respect by winning 7/8 games.

Iowa State seems to make the most sense from the school's standpoint. They've got Iowa there. They aren't going to be any worse off in the standings and may actually move up a couple spots on average. But, I don't know what the Big Ten would want to expand just to get a crappy bottomfeeder (unless they suddenly decide that its worth it for that title game payoff).

I may have overlooked it on this thread, but it seems like Missouri is the school that I most often hear when this topic comes up. I don't think they'd gain anything any more than anyone else, just surprised they haven't gotten more discussion.

What about Mizzou? nobody has said much about them.
I dont think it would be a bad fit.
location isnt really a problem. but the big 12 may not like that to much.

It's not going to happen, but I would like to see conferences become smaller and play a true round-robin schedule. Some schools get a much easier path to conference championships (or even to become bowl eligible) because they end up with a weak rotation in the schedule every so many years.

regarding what to call the conference if it has 12 teams, we could always revert to it's official name:

Intercollegiate Conference of Faculty Representatives

ok, maybe not :)

Take this same poll a year or two from now and Cincy may not be a bad choice........much to the dismay of OSU fans.
