Specter, who became the repubs whipping boy in the senate, switched parties last year to be part of the bandwagon, but will now be leaving the senate for good after losing in a primary to Sestak.

I actually have friends in McKeesport (sp) that are absolutely thrilled to seem him go. His walls started to fall when he switched parties.

People are just not impressed by politicians like that anymore.

I, for one, liked Spector, because he did reach across the aisle. But, I guess the voters wanted someone differently.

The loss of moderates is quite stressing to me as I feel that nothing will get accomplished as both sides yell at each other and appeal to their bases.

But we already have that NOW with moderates in congress. Not listening to the will of the people and passing on base support only.

What has been accomplished so far other than spending and more spending, fruad, lies, hiden cost....... and the fact that my kids and their kids will be straped with taxes created by a socialist idea and a Senate and Congress of Liberal stupid dick heads.

Sestak will actually be a much tougher general election candidate than Arlen for Pat Toomey. He is a decorated serviceman with only 2 terms in Congress with the appearance of being an outsider for sticking it to BHO by running against Specter when the Whitehouse told him not to, that message will play well and there are many Conservatives that wanted Arlen strictly because then they could run the same political opportunist ads that Sestak did so much damage with.

You might be stressed, but it is because of the massive garbage coming out of DC. We cannot rid ourselves of these self-serving, wish-washy, out-of-touch, career politicians soon enough. I have to watch the video of Christie every day because it is about the best inspiration around to keep going until November when we can throw out the radical socialists who have seized federal power.

I have not carried or owned any weapon since 1971 in 2008 I picked up my first pistol after a long and thoughtful struggle, took training class (CCW), practicing to shooting competition. I carry my SIG P220 .45 in some area and when my wife and I go out sometimes in the evening.
Any Public Servant that is concerned that Legal, Law Bidding, Voting, Retired Military, Americans are carrying a weapon …must question his or her value as a Representative defending the Constitution of the United States of American. :rolleyes:

No, it will only make it worse as alot of that spending is locked in. Without a functional congress this country is going to have a debt crisis as we are seeing in Europe right now. Gridlock was good when the county's biggest problem was how to spend a surplus or school uniforms, but in a global environment like we are seeing now it is not good that there is a complete inability to deal with the problems this country faces.

Not really.

It will only allow for current spending to continue at this level.

A gridlocked Congress will keep them from actually passing legislation, laws, etc. to curb spending.

I have this feeling that the Senate will turn into nothing but gridlock, with filibusters all over the place. Nothing will get done.

Now, some say that is a good thing. But, let's see all the problems we need to take care of: SS, Medicare, Medicaid, budget issues, implementation on the awful healthcare bill, and other I may be missing.

If both sides can't agree on anything and only appeal to their base, then we will still be in the same boat now, large budget, broke SS, broke Medicare and Medicaid and a high spending.

It will be worse than 2007, when the Senate did jack.
If we want to tackle the large problems in this country, we must work together and magically, that takes moderates who can reach across the aisle and compromise.

Do conservatives think that liberals are suddenly going to drop their opposition and magically do everything the conservatives want? Do they think all the liberals will be voted out? No. It takes compromise to run and do things.
Senators who now got elected due to their base, will not reach across for fear of not being reelected. So, instead we will see the awful back and forth arguments while medicare and SS go bankrupt.

Now, maybe these new guys will be alright. Maybe they will pull a Scott Brown and reach across on an issue. But, from early indications, it does not look like it.

Great win for Sestak and he becomes the better cnadidate to whip Toomey in the Fall. Add in the special election Senate win for Murtha's seat and the Ds had an excellent night overall nationally. Kentucky is set up for another big D win vs. Paul , as both the D winner & loser got more votes than Paul. The R propaganda is going to be exposed in the Fall as the Ds keep both the House & Senate and elections do not go as some people wanted. Nice job Ds !

Anyone who thought that Congress was going to be tackling those important issues mentioned above is dreaming. Moderates or not. There is absolutely no political will to fix any of the things mentioned here, especially when that would require Congress to pass massive cuts to the budget. It's not going to happen.
