We're getting an iPod Touch for our daughter and am wondering about this app called Text +. Her friend has one with it and she says you can text unlimited for FREE...but only if a wifi connection is present. Almost sounds too good to be true and you know what they say about those deals.
Any thoughts or comments.

'tis true, my wife has an iPod touch and she has this app, she uses it to let the boys (9 and 7 yrs) to text family (me, wife, grandparents) for fun.
They are not allowed to text friends or anyone else and they don't have cell phones themselves.
Again, you have to be near a wifi connection.

It is true, my girl uses her Ipod Touch to text me on my Iphone but yes it must be on a WiFi.

Hmmm, sounds promising.
So you can text to the iPod from a cell phone and vise versa if and when the iPod has a wifi connection...for FREE?

If the person you are texting also does not have the text plus app then it comes up with some weird like 5 digit number and is very weird. Both people need to be using the app.

Does the iPod Text + have a specific "IP Address" so you can add them to your address book or will it change depending on what wifi connection you are using?

Not sure about that, it gives you a phone number but its not a typical 7 digit or 10 digit number
