Here in Mercer County, the champion barrow and champion guilt go head to head for Grand Champion Over All. They then, with the rest of the hogs, are then auctioned off at the Jr Fair Auction at the end of the Fair. My daughter had the Champion Barrow one year and only received $600 at the sale. I don't think anyone has every received anything over $2,000 for any hog...regardless of how well they finished.
Yes it was for the top 2 hogs but $15,000 is still a lot of "bacon"

Reading all of this makes me realize just how much of a city girl I really am. This stuff is way over my head.
