Overall skill wise he is third on my list though.
1. Bron
2. Durant
3. Kobe
I'll take Dwayne Wade over Durant and Kobe all day long.

I could definitely see this.

Because you can't coach a team if they don't want you to. There have been reports that the Lakers may not want to pay Phil to stay. Though I think there's probably a 95% chance he is coaching LA next year.

Michael Reghi says he's confirmed that Brown hasn't been fired.

But that it's only a matter of time.

Not saying Phil will be here, but he wants 12 mil a year from the Lakers....they don't want to pay him that much.

Dan Gilbert may be willing to pay him 20 million if it means LeBron will stay. Would NOT be a bad investment.

But they won't get him.

If they win another title this year Buss won't have a choice but to bring him back no matter how much he wants.

The fans would revolt against him if he derailed a potential 3 peat over a few million dollars when he is not losing money on the team.

He tried the tight wad act with Lamar Odom last offseason and they were going to let him walk, until someone finally walked him down off his cliff and explained that losing Odom would hurt alot more to the teams chances than the 9 million he had to part with.

If the Lakers win it all, Phil will be back.

So, there IS a press conference at 2:30, but it won't be addressing Brown?

Yeah that is my take it on it as well. What is a couple of million dollars...when you are talking about the fans revolting.

I wouldn't say anything is a certainty regarding Phil Jackson. He's always struck me as a guy who is going to do what he wants--regardless of whether it's what people think he'll do or not.

You're not very bright if you think someone is going to pay a coach 20 million dollars a year

Laley,

I'll give you Durant. I really LOVE watching him play. Aside from catching Kobe (not a fan of the Lakers -- also not not a fan -- but I enjoy watching Jordan 1B while he's still able to do his thing), Durant almost single handily brought me back to watching the NBA post-Reggie. He's the best scorer in the league, just ahead of Kobe, IMO. In about three years, after Bryant's talents have finally begun to head toward Springfield, Durant will be the best in the world.

LeBron's window of being labeled "the greatest in the world" is closing, and this season's blunder didn't help the cause. It's funny, really, that, in a few short years, it might be argued that LeBron, despite all of the adulation, praise, marketability and talent, never actually was the best player in the NBA at any given time -- considering Kobe's dominance for so many years and the rising star of Kevin Durant. This, of course, remains to be seen, as LeBron could very well win the next five championships in New York (:D ... not likely, wherever he may be playing, but you never know). And, of course, it's open to argument as many consider him the best now.

Interesting nonetheless.

No, you are not very smart. If Dan Gilbert says, "hey LeBron, will you stay in we get Phil?" and he says yes then he goes to Phil and asked what it will take and he responds with 20 million then he'll be writing that check. Because if LeBron leaves, it's going to cost Gilbert farrrrrrrr more than 20 million, the value of his franchise will get cut in half.

He's nailing the owners daughter and has been in a long relationship with her, he is not going to coach another team. If he wants to coach, the money will be worked out in LA.

The press conference had been scheduled long before this report... it was originally just going to be Gilbert probably bitching about the team as of late and recapping the season, but who knows now.

I would cry if they were announcing that Lebron is signing an extension, but that's not going to happen. It's the end of the Mike Brown era.

I was sooo pissed last night watching Anderson whine to refs for 3 straight possessions. I timeout was called and he was still on the floor! He should have been on the bench for the rest of the night. He is too worried about fouls than playing basketball. I'd ship his ass out this offseason.

SQ..get this through your head

NO owner is going to pay A COACH 20 million dollars. That would be a really stupid decision and would cut into you being able to sign better FA's

Agreed with Goldhammer on ESPN saying that Brown has been screwed by Ferry by bringing in a bunch of players who don't fit the defense first system (Mo, Jamison).

Still gotta go though, but I think Ferry should go too--though, I don't think he will.

LMAO...no it wouldn't, not when your pockets are Dan Gilbert deep. Get this through your head--if LeBron leaves Gilbert is set to lose a few hundred million. 20 million is a drop in the bucket compared to what happens if they lose LeBron.
