They can't afford Bosh. Also we might see the same problem they had last year, people don't want to play in Cleveland.
I'm pretty sure we can. Bosh's max contract is around 17.5 million while Shaqs was 20 million.
They're still way over the cap even minus Shaq's $20 million. They had the 3rd highest payroll in the league last year.
No we didn't we had the 5th.

Regardless, you're right we were over the cap, but if we keep Lebron can't we also sign another max? How were we able to sign Shaq for $20 million, I wasn't really paying attention when it happened, was it because he was traded?

It will have to be through a sign and trade. They are still capable of bringing in a few more pieces. Ferry will be hard at work

Dumping of Shaq and Z's contract brings them where they need to be. Either Mo or DeLonte will be dealt away and Gibson will be back on the floor where he should have been this year.

Then Gilbert needs to figure out a way to bring in either Bosh or even better, Bogut. (via trade or whatever).

And Gilbert needs to get the process rolling quickly in order to appease LBJ.

The biggest mistake last summer was Ferry, Gilbert and LBJ knee jerking the perceived "weakness" against Howard and signing Shaquille. People are slow to remember that Shaq absolutely destroyed Phoenix last year (Notice how the Suns are in th Finals this year? Coinky dink?)

As pissed off as evryone is right now, cooler heads need to prevail. LBJ can be lured to stay....but he needs to be given the right reasons for doing so.

Cav fans that are clamoring for the king to GTFO are just suffering a bad case of Clevelndsportsitis today....and need to chill.

Keeping LBK is still priority one.

They have no assets that you will get anything of value for. Mo/Jamison/Andy are grossly overpaid for the production they provide. No one is going to take them off CLeveland's hands with the amount of money each are still owed.

The thing that is different about this year from years past is Ferry (or whoever the GM is) has no big time expiring contracts to entice a team to unload another star with for cap space like he did Jamison.

If Lebron does stay, they have no cap space and no assets to make drastic trades. They put all their chips in the center this year and it went bust unfortunately.

^^How many years does Jamison have left? I thought next year was his last under contract?

Z's contract is already off the books. The expiring $11 million that would have come off was replaced with the $13.5 million Jamison makes. So it actually added to the future cap number.

Here is the Cavs salary situation for next year. Not pretty.

Nope, he is still owed 2 yrs/ 28.5 million. He is untradable.

Of course Cavs fans are going to be fans of LeBron because he plays for the Cavs. If he chooses to play for another team I, along with all of the TRUE Cavs fans will no longer support him. It's not rocket science bud ;)
Rare to see someone so readily admit to being a homer.

Good luck to Lebron, the greatest regular season player in the NBA, with his new team.

This is what hurts Cleveland. We all know this roster won't win an NBA title, then you look at New Jersey who can sign two free agents and could have the #1 overall pick. That roster would be better than Cleveland's roster. Miami, Chicago, New York, New Jersey and LA Clippers are all places he could go.

Because Antawn Jamison is a sieve defensively and Kevin Garnett is one of the best PFs of all time. HOF power forwards can knock down 17 foot jump shots.

For the most part, up until a few weeks ago no one realized the roster was in as bad a shape as it really is.

The thought was they were on the brink of a title. We realize now this team is actually not close at all, and when you consider that they can't make any drastic moves to overhaul the roster and have no cap space suddenly things look very bleak if you're Lebron and you're looking at who is closest to winning a title the next 3 years at a minimum.

Take Lebron out of the equation and it is hard to look at Cleveland and Chicago's roster and say that Chicago isn't a better option all things considered.

Iggy-- that is something I've mentioned many times. The recipe for LBJ leaving is them choking again and the fact that this roster isn't sexy enough for at least 3 more years. The Cavs are old. The PF's are good. Still no shooting guard. The PG was pretty good, until the playoffs.

When was the last time W&G was right about something? Mo Williams trade. He hasn't been right since.
Funny you mention that....the next guy that posted after him said..."good thing you haven't been right about anything in the last 2 years"...lol

I tried going on and finding what he had said after the game, but got tired of looking through all the threads.
