I'll be out Monday morning...my philosophy is that I'm either going to get one with my car or with my gun, so I would just as soon shoot one. Not to mention I love venison. Deer tenderloin in the skillet with some butter, onions, and mushrooms is about as fine of a delicacy as you can find in Ohio.

Lj.......anytime you want to have some help with that goose problem, let me know, I am right here in Tuscarawas county, and i will even smoke some up for you when the weather gets cold enough.
That being said, I love hunting......from rabbits to squirrels to turkeys to deer.......but the birds are what get me going. Nothing like ducks or geese or pheasants and grouse......and I eat every damn bit of them!!!!!!!!!

I miss hunting. My family operates over 1000 acres in southeastern Ohio. I haven't been able to hunt since the 2003 shotgun season. I did go out twice with a muzzle loader (which was my first two times). I miss shotgun season, it is a big family event for us, hunting, family, cards, Grandma's cooking, and a little hanging out.
I would like to go hunting more, if I had the time. Since moving here, I plan on doing some pheasant, goose, and duck hunting. HOPEFULLY, try to go mule deer too. But I'll have to get a job to make a little money so I can do this hunting.
A friend is probably going to go bear hunting in Canada this year...I am so envious.

Be safe everyone. Heading down with a buddy to the grandparents this eve, looking forward to it. Forecast looking better and better if we can sneak that rain out by morning.

I've always wanted to get in to hunting but never met anyone who had the time to show me how to get started. I have shot guns before and enjoy it, and have shot a few squirrels with a .410, but never anything bigger. Hopefully one of these years I'll get out there.

Report from my firsy Goose hunting episode: Got out and all of the decoys set up, found a place to take some cover. Got into this fabric camo coffin looking deal with a built in seat (pretty damn comfy). Saw some ducks right away heading to a pond on the ajacent farm, far out of range from what I was told. Sat out for about 2 hours (did not get out there until about 3) and saw 2 huge flocks of migratory geese flying at a couple thousand feet and hauling a$$. All in all not a bad time, however I do wish I could have at least gotten a shot off. Played fetch with the dog using some old corn stalks. That damn dog would fetch thread if you would throw it. Looking forward to next time.

As a kid I would hunt with my grandpa (rabbit, pheasant, turkey and deer) but I have not hunted in over 45 years. After my tour of duty I gave all my guns away never to use a weapon again and started a family. In the past year at the age 60 my physical strength (kick some ass) and the limits I have to protect myself and property, the wife and I has agreed to have me taking up weapons.
As a military weapons specials and explosive specials I believe that safety is required. The only way I can feel competent in having a weapon is if my proficient with a weapon is to be at my maximum skill level. That is why I’m training and working to compete in IPSC and the IDPA
I have heard that more and more people are using pistol for hunting …I would like to try that.

My brother got an 11 point saturday morning. Green scored it at 172. Which is good, but I'm sure he missed some deductions (I always do).
I'm going while I'm back in the 'etta and not doing family stuff for the holidays (20th - 23rd). Wish me luck.

Took 2 shots at a bigger doe around 330 and came up empty. Saw 3 nice bucks and probably ten other does. My buddy got one that I think I shot at at around 4, he is giving me some summer sausage and a tenderloin for letting him hunt on the property. I will make it out Sat and one of the bonus days so all hope is not lost. Weather turned out perfect quit raining in Norwich about 735.
Congrats to those who got one.
