Nigeria's keeper did awesome. Nigeria should have been able to score off of one of those counters though.

Argentina should have won that game by like 3.

Argentina looked sloppy to me, they gave up too many counter attacks and if Nigeria had a shred of organization they could have gotten a draw out of that game. If Argentina plays that way against South Korea they could lose. Agree about Nigeria's keeper, he single handed kept them in the game.

Argentina had better find some kind of team play or they will not go far in the knock out stages, individualism will only get you so far.

Amazing that as good as Milito has been, Higuain and Messi are arguably having better years (Messi for sure). Messi at 21 and Higuain at 22, Argentina will win a World Cup with them...if not this year, than I would put early money on 2014.

I wouldn't. I'd be shocked if Brazil doesn't win as the host nation.

They will probably be the favorites. But I personally think Argentina will be the best team in the world for the next Cup.

Yeah, it sucks. Like we need to hear the same exact thing 20 times for an hour before the game.

It's been known for weeks, if not months that the game was starting at 2:30

I forget who it was, but somebody made a great point about Messi and his subpar performances with Argentina.

Messi has been with FC Barcelona since he was what, like 13? He's grown up on the Spanish style of football and basically that's what he knows. He doesn't always look like he fits in with the Argentine style during international play.

I thought Messi was their best player today and if not fot the Nigerian keeper he score a couple goals, but again, he can't do it alone. Maradona doesn't have a clue how to organize a line-up and play to his strengths.

This is true. But through 5 games, Messi is the best player in the WC. He was GREAT today, and as Rock said, easily couldve had 2 goals.

Interesting match ups tomorrow. I think Group D may be the most balanced group from top to bottom, given Germany's injury troubles. They should still win, but they could certainly be tested now. I wouldn't be completely shocked to see any of the other 3 teams advance.

And obviously I'm also interested in seeing the U.S. other 2 opponents go at it in the early one. I see that fizzling into a draw.

What?! He had 8 shots, he just couldn't finish. He was by far the best player on that field in that game. He fit in very well.

Sigh...

Clearly we're not talking about this game. We're talking about previous international matches where Messi hasn't looked like himself. Yes, he looked good today against Nigeria.

I know but the previous games weren't the actual world cup. This is the actual world cup and so far through 1 game Messi has been awesome and has looked right at home playing for the Argentinians.

Ask the Celtics about turning it on when it really counts.

Slovenia is up 1-0 after some of the worst goalkeeping you'll ever see.

Is everyone still annoyed by these damn horns they're blowing in the stands? It sounds like a swarm of bees. I'm seriously thinking of muting the sound, I can't take it anymore.

I don't mind the horns, part of the great atmosphere.

Ghana gets a handball penalty kick and wins 1-0.
