This is a pretty darn good list. You Buckeyes and Irish edged out my rock, but I will live
1. ND- "Play like a champion today"
2. Ohio State- "Script Ohio"
3. Clemson- "Howard's Rock"
7. Michigan- "Hail to the Victors"
The List

I like the play like a champion tradition... but i think (and dear god, i can't believe i'm saying this), but from a fans perspective, i have to say script ohio is better.
reason being, that script ohio is performed for the fans, play like a champion today is a sign the irish hit on the way out of their locker room, so while a cool tradition to be a part of for the players, as a fan, it doesn't do much for me.

Script Ohio is definitely the best as far as pure tradition. As far as getting the fans pumped, I think we are on top. The video they show before the team gets to the top of the hill:
Man I want football back.

Script Ohio.
It's not close.
There's not a more unique tradition, anywhere, in college football that gets a stadium as revved up as much as this.
If you've never experienced it live, in Ohio stadium, you can't understand it. No video can convey the energy that builds to an explosive finale when the i is dotted.

^^ I have seen it over 30 times. It is the best as far as tradition and excellence.
But for pure adrenaline and getting pumped up, ours doesn't get beat.
Let me be clear, I am clearly giving the nod to OSU because Script Ohio is an amazing tradition, and any school should be proud to have it associated with their university. But having seen both roughly the same amount of times, The Hill is literally like an adrenaline trip. So the two have their own places in what they do for the university.
I am in no way saying that Script Ohio is bad, it is badass, and the Shoe gets loud. Lord knows I grew up a buckeye, so I understand. But Script plays a different role in the game I think. It is in reverence to the university over even the football team. For that, I believe it to be the best tradition bar none.
But Clemson's hill (which is more or less, solely about the football team) is intense as hell.
Saw Chief Oscala (sp?) and the flaming spear at FSU two years ago when I went down there. It was pretty cool for sure, and the chop is intimidating. Hail to the Victors is decent (went to the 05 OSU-MICH game there), but the Big House seemed quiet to me. Went to the Miami-Clem game this year, and the smoke tunnel was alright-- I assume it was much better when the Hurricanes were dominating and when the games were still at the old orange bowl. Been to two games to see the Ramblin Wreck from GT. It is overrated as hell. Maybe it is because I fucking hate GT, but I thought it was really corny, and I can't stand that geek fanbase.
I am traveling to Auburn this year for the Auburn-Clemson game, and I am really pumped to see the war eagle.

I've always been jealous of VT's Enter Sandman pregame. Really gets the crowd Fired up.
but obviously Script Ohio is the greatest tradition.

Script Ohio should win by a landslide simply because of the number of people involved and the impact it has on the crowd. Play like a Champion is for the players, but still pretty cool.

Why Script Ohio.......because you Bucknuts say so? Texas A&M fans will tell you that their tradition of "12th Man" is the best in CFB, like wise with any other tradtion laden program will say their ritual is the best.

Best friend is the same way, he hates everything there is about OSU. We went to a game a few years ago and even he had to admit how great it was to see it in person and how he got chills during it.bigkahuna wrote: As a Michigan fan and born and raised in Ohio,

Yeah Script Ohio is #1 and it's not even close. Didn't UM make it though?

Didn't look at the list, but I really like Wisconsin's "Jump Around". It can get absolutely insane.

Is that pre-game? I thought they did that before the 4th?OhioStatePride2003 wrote: Didn't look at the list, but I really like Wisconsin's "Jump Around". It can get absolutely insane.
Even so, it's not really that great of a tradition, just something to get the fans pumped.
I do have to agree with the top 3, but I'd definitely put Script Ohio #1.. Seeing it live for the first time last season as awe inspiring.
#2 would be Clemson, then #3 ND

Nothing like experiencing Script Ohio live, a wonderful feeling.
After seeing some videos from Clemson, i definitely want to see a game there at some point...

The 12th Man is really an in-game tradition, not a pregame tradition. However, I did feel that there were two HUGE omissions on that list that make it lose any credibility and one has to do with the 12th Man. Midnight Yell Practice should have been somewhere on that last, and Ole Miss's walk through the Grove should have been on that list (maybe top five). When they leave off things like that and include stuff like the WSU flag at Gameday, you lose credibility.rock_knutne wrote: Why Script Ohio.......because you Bucknuts say so? I also have a hard time seeing a tradition that's only 24 years old being the greatest in college football, and as others have said, it's a private tradition for the players. I'm biased, but I don't think many objective observers would argue that Script Ohio is the best.

Yes, Michigan was the 1st to do Script Ohio, but it looked like shit

Kind of small picture.
Also, I just thought the whole dog thing with Texas A & M was really cool. I didn't quite understand it, so could someone with more military intelligence explain it to?

Does it make me a traitor of I WANT to put my arms up and do OH-IO during Hang on Sloopy? I see it as showing love to the state of Ohio and NOT Ohio State.

If you're an Ohioan then I think it's fine because Hang On Sloopy is the official state rock song.bigkahuna wrote:Serious question:wildcats20 wrote:Best friend is the same way, he hates everything there is about OSU.
