Nice to see Andy get some recognition, now he needs to suck up his injury and contribute in the playoffs.LeBron James and Anderson Varejao make NBA All-Defensive team
The NBA announced the All-Defensive first team and second team today. LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers made the first team. Anderson Varejao of the Cavaliers made the second team.

Yeah Timmy was the only iffy pick IMO.
But then again, who would take his spot?? I'm guessing it's just a center, 2 forwards, and 2 guards.

I see this is Duncan's 13th NBA all-defensive team. The most ever. In fact it's two more than Kareem with 11. It's also Kobe's 10th which makes him only the 5th player and the only guard with 10 NBA all-defense selections.

lol, Josh Smith is a good shot blocker, but so is LeBron.Hb31187 wrote: Id just switch LBJ and Josh Smith
Josh Smith is a good rebounder, but so is LeBron.
Josh Smith is an "ok" at best strong side defender, LeBron is a very good strong side defender.
So nah, I think they got it right.

Good point, the Center spot is so weak in the NBA, it really is tough to think of anybody else who should have it over Timmy.wildcats20 wrote: Yeah Timmy was the only iffy pick IMO.

How is he an OK at best strong side defender? Theres no real statistic for that, its all opinion.
And Im not saying LBJ is a bad defender, but Smith is a better rebounder, shot blocker and has just as many steals(I know you cant really use stats to justify defensive team)

Josh Smith is very uninspired when playing defense, aside from blocking shots.Hb31187 wrote: How is he an OK at best strong side defender? Theres no real statistic for that, its all opinion.

If you look at what most people consider "defensive stats," Noah trumps AV. And he did it in less games, not that that means all that much.

"Defensive stats" are vastly overrated.

Oh I know, I was just saying. People like to say that Noah is a poor man's Andy, but honestly I think Noah brings a lot more to the table than AV.

He does. He's a much more offensively gifted player, but I still think Andy is a better defender.wildcats20 wrote: Oh I know, I was just saying. People like to say that Noah is a poor man's Andy, but honestly I think Noah brings a lot more to the table than AV.
