Duals!

Anywho, it is this weekend. There will most likely be 20 or more teams there. Start time??????? 9am!?!?!? Maybe...

Team Orange Crush out of Olentangy Orange should be tough. I know West Jeff's group ALWAYS brings it. Team TNT out of Teays Valley had some holes, but what they had was quality.

Team Leathernecks out of Hartley has had a strong group the last view years so I wouldn't expect much different this year.

One team that I thought was tough was Team Stomp. Not to mention the outside of Columbus teams and the out of state teams (if any).

Certainly an excellent event.

Power Wrestling Club -- First
Medina -- 2nd
TNT -- 3rd
Lexington -- 4th

TNT (Todd Nace Trained, Teays Valley, etc.) defeated Marysville etc, the "Salmons" (Olentangy, etc), and Team Vengeance (Big Walnut???, etc) to advance to the championship Bracket.

Hunter Stieber and Randy Languis wrestled for Power. Fun to watch, until it was our turn!

Great tournament. We have been involved three of the last four years and we've enjoyed the good competition and well run event each year. WCWC dropped the first dual to a loaded PWC blue team, then came back and won the next 5 duals .

FYI....Stomp only came one year to this event. They didn't look bad that year. 4 or 5 Graham boys on the squad and they did win it. They also stiffed the tournament once or twice as well.
Alot of good wrestlers there this year. This has become a good tourny to go to to compete and even watch. One thing I noticed was alot of mismatched weights. Many kids were not even close to the weight they were wrestling. Some teams looked true and some didn't. The Coaches should take more pride in their integrity when doing their own weigh ins. I watched a dozen matches that weren't even close.
Cofer does a great job with this tournament.

Pretty sure Ryan Murdock (TNT this week) went 6-0 on the day, so he beat Fee.

About weigh ins... I don't think it was dishonesty, I really think it was what day they weighed in on. And as far as I could tell, there was nothing in the directions as to which day they had to weigh in on. As much as they promise themselves they aren't cutting weight for summer tournaments, for the big ones, they do (well... some of them do....) If your coach weighed you in on Wednesday or Thursday, then by Saturday, you were back up to your regular weight and fully recovered. Then, when you have a kid who didn't cut for this bumping up a weight class (like from 163 to 174) wrestling a kid who cut to make 174 and weighed in on, like, Wednesday.... well... they look like completely different sizes!

Re Fee --> Timchenko of Crush WC beat him

RE Weigh Ins --> we weighed in Friday and I had some guys cutting. That said, there were some pretty big swings from kids. Do I think there was some fudging on some teams? Probably. But at the end of the day, we just wanted matches. I wouldn't mind seeing weigh ins on site, but it doesn't keep me up at night either.

Great event by New Albany and Coach Cofer. Thanks for having us.

We weighed in on Friday after school, the only person we had loosing weight was our 215 and that is b/c he works @ Dariry Queen and eats too many free ice cream cones. Every team has a different approach, some teams come to win the thing, some put togeather an all-star team, some have graduating seniors on their team. The way I look at it I had 11 of 14 weight classes filled by guys who are going to be on our team next year. Only one of them was a junior, which means 10 of my younger guys got 6 matches that they wouldn't have otherwise.

timchenko and Murrdock didnt have the chance to wrestle for the fact that crush wasnt in the championship bracket as tnt was , This would have been a great match to see though!

I agree, Monarch. I think it is a matter of club mission. We chose to use as many of our projected starters for next year as possible (although Prom stung a bit), ending up with 11 of 14 kids. Young guys getting the matches was out main focus, and in that regard, this tourney was stacked!
