Jeter stands at 2778 passing Jr at 2776
Jeter is going to end with a big big number

He is going to end up extremely close to 3000 this season. Has a chance for 3000 on this date next year!

If he stays hot he could get there by this time next year......but that is a lot of hits.....even for Jeter.
I'll guess May 28th 2011
A lot of possible 3,000 hit guys still playing.
Jeter....no doubt
Arod....all but definite (though Robbie Alomar was about where he was at this age as well)
Pudge......I won't be surprised if he makes it.....but probably about 25% chance still
Manny if he wanted to....but I don't think he'll play long enough
Damon.....don't be surprised if Johnny Damon makes it...he's a determined guy that understands significant stats
Renteria.....I'll give him less than a 20% chance...but he just keeps on going along
Pujols....barring injury...no doubt
Ichiro.....he didn't get here until he was 27......but I bet he gets very close
Carl Crawford.....a lot of hits every year and a special athlete......a long way to go....but on the very early radar
others....well anyone up by age 22 that gets 185-190 hits a year and stays healthy and does it for a LONG time

Justin Upton, if he reaches potential he showed last year, can make it. I think he is like 22 right now and this is his 3rd full year.
Although, along with Upton, you can throw in a ton of guys like that. Its just so young to predict.

barring normal injuries Griffey right now would be around:
3,000 games
1950 runs
3200 hits
2075 RBI
5900 Total Bases
720 HR
15 all-star games
12 gold gloves
1 MVP
0 Championships
Few love Griffey as much as I do and no one on here wanted him on the Reds more than me....and those would be numbers....WOW.....but not GOAT.

There's one fat guy who played 90 years ago and has as many career shutouts as Roy Halladay....he's got better numbers for sure
I gave Griffey's best numbers using all numbers and all items you could argue many players (and I'll leave off a few) Ruth, Gehrig, Mays, Aaron, Cobb.

Lets not forget, that in his time, Griffey was the best defensive outfielder around as well.
Jeter's above average defensively, at best.

Understand that baseball is a team sport, but he's been the most valuable Yankee since 1996.

That's basically a two-man race for "most valuable Yankee since 1996", and I'd still take Rivera every day of the week.chicago510 wrote: Jeter also has 5 rings though
