I mean that literally, supposed to storm in St. Louis all night, looks like we may not be playing baseball tonight......

Anyways, matchup is as follows:

Johnny Cueto (0-1, 5.73) v. Brad Penny (3-0, 0.94)

John Fay pointed out that Cueto was 2-0 with a 2.11 ERA over 21 1/3 innings against the Cardinals last year.

Also....who do we think will be called up since in all likelihood Dickerson will be put on the DL and the Reds aren't going to play a man short?

I say Heisey, only because he's already on the 40 man roster, although he's not exactly tearing it up like I'd like him to be.

Anyways, Dickerson being out is good news as he's been terrible lately, hopefully he can regroup and come back healthy and ready to play.

Not much interest in this I suppose.

Dickerson....while being a good guy....is statistically horrible

Now batting leadoff with 45 AB........17 K.....ONE FREAKING WALK and somehow......zero RBI

Hell, I forgot we even had Laynce Nix.

Cueto having a hard time the 2nd time thru the line-up as the rain starts. Tornado warnings to the SW of StL.

Reds baserunning gaffe badly hurts the Reds chances for a big 4th. I have to put the blame on the 3B coach.

Great play by Cueto and Cabrera for a rare 1-6 DP.

How can they allow umbrellas to be up in the stands while the game is being played?

Were gonna lose this game 2-1 after 6 cause of rain. That's gonna suck!

We've lost in a lot worse ways that that.

Mother Nature doesn't like Dusty Baker either it appears.

Big two out RBI single up the middle for Bruce that takes away a rain shortened win for StL. Penny trying to pitch around Bruce with 1st base open and two outs and gets it up and not off the plate like he was trying to do. Bruce didn't try to do too much with it and knocked in the run.

Oh...it's not in yet for the Reds.....Cards must finish their next at bat or it goes back to the inning before.

I hope St. Louis has their own version of hurricane Katrina. I've never met anyone from there that I liked anyway.

Someone explain this rule to me about the innings being reversed? I'm confused with this ruling regarding the rain delay

hell, maybe I'm wrong....but the Reds can't get a win in this game until St Louis completes their at bat as the Reds have had 1 more at bat and the Cards are the home team...if the game were not completed and ended as is.....it would go back to the last complete inning as long as it's 5 or more.

Final Score might be

Cards 2
Reds 1.....5 innings

If they can't get the game in... Can't they just suspend the game until tomorrow?

not sure of MLB rules on that or how it is normally handled.

I can't recall starting any major league games in the middle of the 6th inning.......that sounds more like high school/tourney

I see no reason they can't continue this game tomorrow afternoon

I don't see any reason either.....but don't believe MLB does it that way.

Has St Louis had an at bat in the 6th yet?

What may happen is that it is postponed and continued at a later date.

For those that want to walk Pujols all the time, note that they intentionally walked him once tonight and Holliday followed with a 2 run single, the only runs for StL so far in the game!
