I ran the Race for the Cure this past week (my first 5k) just shy of 28 min. but I could have run it a few min. faster. The start was terrible, so many people and just trying to find a lane and get to my pace.

I remember a few years ago I thought it was insane people would run BEFORE the race....like a mile...to warm up..and then run back to find othe rpoeple after their were done. I was like...ur insane.ccrunner609 wrote:sej wrote:Warm up? What's that? ^^is that for 5Ks or all races?
Im gunning for sub 7 min miles on my 5ks this summer which I think I can because I was getting close last year as my first true year of speed and interval training.
It was weird..the mos I ran before a race was just about two miles. I did a Sat 5k and a sunday 5k..the one sunday I was a little sore so I jogged to get loose...took longer than normal so I kept goin. I didnt feel up to par but it wasnt too far off the day before.

Yeah...I jog a 9 min. mile pace for my 5Ks. I'm sure someday I'll find the motivation to get back to a normal pace, but I'm happy being a slacker right now

ccrunner, did you happen to be running shirtless with a guy with rather curly hair?

Signed up for a half marathon in September. Until then, a 5k is on the schedule for almost every Saturday.

Poopy, but I took about a minute off from the last time I did one. Maybe one of these days I'll get back on a regular running schedule and not be so awful anymore, but hey...at least I finished right?
How about you? See my previous post.
That one sounds nifty, Society. I was thinking about trying to do a race somewhere other than Ohio. Maybe I'd be more motivated to actually train.

I've been doing tri's the last three years after a lifetime of cc, road and track races.. A bum knee (arthritis) is threatening my career and I'm not a happy camper.

BF and I have tossed around the idea of trying one of those. It seems they have them pretty often.

I ran the Canton Hall of Fame 5-mile race a few weekends ago and had a blast!! I have the Cleveland 5k coming up, then the Apple Butter 5k in Orrville, then the Akron Marathon 5-person Relay.

I made my little (12) brother "run" the last 5K with me. The kid still won't talk to me
I did the Akron relay a couple years ago. It was fun, but kind of a haul for me. I've got one Sept 12, Sept 18, Oct 2, Oct 10, Oct 26, Oct 29 (all 5K) and one Nov. 25. We have a few more we're thinking about, too. I hope I'm not overloading myself, but I'm trying to make sure I stay active so I don't gain a million pounds.
CC, we pulled the trigger and signed up for ORRRC. Looking forward to trying a trail run soon!

Which is why it is my favorite race, have back to back sub 40's, looking to break 35 minutes next April.Con_Alma;328030 wrote:10ks are nasty races. In my opinion it is one of the hardest, most difficult distances to race. It's speed and more speed for an extended period of time.

Ha! We're doing the meatball one and turkey trot, too. I'm slightly ashamed that I'm signed up for TT in the big lady class, but I figured at nearly 6 months preggo I get a pass. Sept 18th is Dash 'n Dine at Riverscape. It's put on with Taste of Miami Valley. Have you ever done the Dayton River Corridor Classic? BF wants to do the half for that one.

For a weekend road warrior, sub 35s is very admirable!

I ran a 10k back in early August, not a huge fan of that distance. I like the 5k and half marathon distances. I signed up for the Columbus Half earlier this week. I think next year I might get into some of the duathlon events.
