I am flying out to NYC tomorrow and am actually thinking about trying to get in to see the draft live. I read that tickets are free, but there is limited seating. First come, first serve.

I like watching the first round or two of the draft, but after that its pointless. I don't care about some nobody from Idaho State that looks good on tape drafted in the 6th round.

Why is it so hard for people to equally like each major sport? I am a diehard Cavs, Tribe, and Browns fan.. I don't really put one over the other because they hardly conflict each other.

The Browns are my favorite, but I enjoy them all... instead of saying dumb shit like hockey and baseball aren't sports and basketball is just a bunch of thugs.
People are stupid.

I won't bother arguing with people who are comparing it to watching an actual game. A playoff game for that matter.
You guys are wetting your pants over a bunch of rookies. I'm interested in the draft, I can't wait to see what happens, but sitting down and watching it is pointless.

its kinda like figuring out if Brett Favre will retire. it gets old hearing people talking about the same old shit. we have the whole summer to analyze the draft, there is no point in doing it for all of march and april.

The worst thing about the draft is how much time it takes. It can be interesting to see who goes where, and there are some catchy storylines associated with it (namely around Roethlisberger) but isn't it like 10-15 minutes between each pick? I mean they are devoting 3+ hours to the first round alone. It's like 30 seconds of excitement per pick then 10 minutes of sitting around discussing it. Difficult to pay attention to.

I'm sure you probably anal-bead'd yourself to Lebron as a rookie..SQ_Crazies wrote: You guys are wetting your pants over a bunch of rookies.

I will be glued to my TV watching the draft and occasionally checking the Cavs game.
This, to me, is one of the best days of the year.

I hope we have a moment like last year when Al Davis drafted that dude from a Youtube video. It was funny to see Kiper fishing through notes to try to find that kid...lol

I'm only interested in what the Browns do. It is pretty over-hyped. ESPN is acting like it's the apocalypse.
I think every scenario, trade rumor, mock draft has been done. It's just ridiculous. I would love to see the time spent on these things compared to actually what goes down.

Yes. Regardless of what team you follow, the best moments of any NFL draft are when the Raiders pick their first couple of guys. It's this awesome surreal moment of comedy mixed in with the whole SERIOUS BUSINESS atmosphere.wes_mantooth wrote: I hope we have a moment like last year when Al Davis drafted that dude from a Youtube video. The only thing as epic as the Oakland picks and reaction to them I've seen at the draft was the hilarity of wondering if Brady Quinn would break down in tears while w.....a.....i.....t.....i.....n.....g for someone, anyone to pick him.

SQ has already stated before that he is a bandwagon Lebron fan. He has said wherever Lebron goes that will be his favorite team.

Don't act like you've never sat down and watched the NFL draft. You too cool for school now?SQ_Crazies wrote: I won't bother arguing with people who are comparing it to watching an actual game. A playoff game for that matter.

I feel the same way about Baseball (in general, not just regular season baseball) as you do about the NFL draft. I think it's stupid and don't know why someone would waste their time on it. Filling out all those box scores and calculating WHIP and ERA, and OPS and Slugging %. Jesus Christ get a life you fucking nerds.

I have watched it, which gives me the right to come to the conclusion that it's incredibly pointless and overhyped. Not the draft itself, just the coverage of it.jpake1 wrote:Don't act like you've never sat down and watched the NFL draft. How is it overhyped...if people want to see it then why would espn not cover the draft like they do...i would rather watch coverage on the draft then watch baseball, and first round action of the NHL and NBA playoffs.SQ_Crazies wrote:I have watched it, which gives me the right to come to the conclusion that it's incredibly pointless and overhyped. I never gave too big a shat on the Browns draft. I've seen them fuck then up religiously since 1999. Secondly, with free agency the way it is, I don't think the draft is all that. And thirdly, I can't stand Mel Kiper. How he has hoodwinked America into him being some sort of super sleuth is amazing.
As for this year, I would have done a little pud whackin if we had a shot in getting Suh. Now that guy is amazing.
