I buy alot of store brand groceries.

Most of it is the same product, just under the store brand name.

We use many generic products but we also have some things that we won't buy generic. It's not a quality problem or a safety problem, it comes down to a taste issue. (as in food!!)

Will never buy generic toothpaste (only CREST), Peanut butter (only JIF), Trash bags, Chips, Soda, Pickles (only CLAUSSEN), Laundry Detergent (TIDE).

Sometimes name brand stuff purchased on sale with a coupon is cheaper than generic anyway.

Never go generic on the following:

Toilet Paper- Charmin
Paper Towels- Bounty
Mayo- Hellmans
PB- JIF
Pop- Diet Mtn. Dew
Trash Bags- Hefty

The thing with Aldi and really most generic brands is that they are often made by the same people who make the name brands, so you're essentially getting the same exact thing packaged under a different name, so it's cheaper. I've found the one place you have to be careful with generics is over-the-counter drugs because they are often cheaper, but they also often have less of the active ingredients, which means you end up taking more and it costs you the same.

I know that at Kroger, most of the store brand items are national brand, just under the kroger label.

Aldi's is where it's at. It all tastes the same to me. But, the only things I buy name brand are beer and toilet paper, you know the essesntials

Generic for shit that doesnt matter. But most my food and my TP/toiletries are not ever going to be generic.

I figured toilet paper would be a popular "no generics" sentiment. Same here, we also don't buy generics for trash bags (too many bad incidents with non-brands) and OTC drugs (price differential isn't that great + doctor's recommendations).
