I will say, however... sometimes, walking can make a round go faster. Especially if you are with 3 other experienced golfers. I'm not a low handicapped, but am experienced enough to play a quick round. Carts definitely slow the pace down.

the usga might think that the most enjoyable way to play golf is to walk, but i doubt that every golfer does.

i'd walk if i had a caddy.

Got the day off of work today...about to go play a round, decided to walk rather than ride today for the first time in about 10 years...we'll see how this goes.

I usually walk when I play by myself or with college friends. But I also play with older guys who ride, and since they pay...I ride.

My dad is 63 years old, who's come back from prostate cancer, and a heart attack. Ironically, he suffered the heart attack while walking the course; but we all know heart attacks don't just happen overnight. He still walks the course and we always walk together.

The only time I won't walk by myself is in blazing heat. Pack two gatorades and a couple waters, and I'm heading for the nearest cart.

Just got back. It was really nice actually walking instead of riding. No one else on the course, only took about hour and a half, shot a 42 (ish), got a little excercise...going to have to start walking more often

I enjoy walking if I have the time and the course isn't too jam packed. But if you have an outing or a scramble then you pretty much have to have a cart for all the army golfers.
THIS. I golf with my Dad a lot, who is 63 years old, so whenever we play, we usually get a cart. I have no problems with carts at all, I've played some very hilly courses where it would be like the Bataan Death March to walk.

Not to hijack this thread... but what is the most difficult course to walk that you have played?

I walked 27 holes and played the back tees @ Speidel in Wheeling WV several times... that is a pretty tough walk.

I understand why you say this... but many courses do strectch out over 5-6 miles. That coupled with being in warmer weather generally can lead to a nice workout while doing something one enjoys.

If you do not like to golf sorry that you do not "get it". Those who appreciate and understand that golf is a challenge of one's self against the course, trying to improve one's skill at doing so... and by walking also get a little exercise... well it is a win.

This is almost comical. The people who run golf thinks their game is so fucking serious. Give me a break.

played a course last week that was 5700 yards, that's just over 3 miles. it's a good workout to walk.

Plz never use "excercise" as a reason to walk ever again.

Please explain how walking 2 miles with a bag is not exercise? Obviously it's not the only reason to walk instead of ride, but it's an added bonus.

I'm on my feet all day at work 5-6 days a week, I'll be god damned I'm gonna walk 4+ miles to play a leisure sport. I golf to relax and get away, I ain't making it like a job. My job isn't sitting at a desk 'engineering' shit.
