Some degree of luck is involved in winning a championship. That's why teams generally have such trouble repeating. It's hard to mix all of the talent/chemistry/hunger and a little bit of good fortune together again and again. Part of winning involves getting lucky in regards to things like injury and timing of injuries.
Well...this is about the best post I've read on NBA threads all year. 100% on the numbers.
The Cav fans that hang around these boards have bought all the bullshit that last year's team "was weak" and they didn't have the talent to win it all.
No...the correct assessment is that last year's team was the best in the business, but were very unfortunate to get dumped by an inferior Orlando team.
As good as the Cav team is this year..and they are damn good, they played more cohesively during the regular season last year. Last year's team went 10-4 during the playoffs, with 2 of the losses decided on last second events.
I will be stunned if the Lakers make it to the finals. Stunned. Because over the course of the last month, they have not shown the consistancy that they showed last year.
As for the Cavaliers.....they will definitely have their hands full with Orlando. Over the last 3 or 4 weeks of the reg. season, the Magic were much more impressive than the Cavs were.....and I'm not even including the last 4 exhibitiion games.
Cav fans do not show the ability to be fair and objective. They think that the addition of Shaq will automatically put them over the top. As we saw in game 2, Shaq only played in 15 minutes due to foul trouble. And just like during the season, the team performed a lot better with him off the court.
