I listen to a lot of music and have my tastes but sometimes there are parts or verses or passages or whathaveyou in songs that I really like or relate to at the time. The following is one of them. I'll post more when I remember/recognize them.
And I watch the debates till I can't think straight. Take abortion away, and both sides they felt the same, so I knew sure how we'd vote... but I just don't know what difference it ever made. It seems to me we get the same shit from them both. Reforms don't work - I think it's time for work revolt; but I don't got the guts to jump up and shoot first, so I'll just shout until my throat hurts, and I curse and I curse...

And well we fucked up in Iraq, you say "support the troops" - I do, I want them all brought back - but then your drums beat and it's back to Afghanistan and that's the change I can't believe in. So if you really go and reinstate the draft, just straight away just split the country straight in half; so try arresting everyone who sends their draft cards back. I'll be returning mine in no time flat.
also
I won't remember to remember to forget you forgot me.
The lyrics are from Kevin Devine and Modest Mouse respectively.

DMB has A LOT of great lyrics.

There are so many songs with great lyrics though.

A random DMB sample:
Look at this big eyed fish
swimming in the sea
Oh how it dreams to be a bird
swooping, diving through the breeze
So one day
caught a big old wave
up on to the beach
Now the fish is dead, you see
cause fish should know stay down in the sea

But oh God
Under the weight of life
Things seem brighter on the other side

Story of this man, who decided not to breathe
He turned red then blue then purple, colorful indeed
No matter how his friends begged and pleaded, he would not concede
Now the man is dead you see
Cause every man should know you got to breathe

But, oh God,
Under the weight of life,
Things seem brighter on the other side

idk about DMB. they have a lot of great music......but lyrics, im not too sure.

one of my all time favorite lyrics is by the lyricist of them all, bob dylan. it goes

May you build a ladder to the stars and climb on every rung. May your song always be sung, May you stay forever young.

simply the greatest lyricist of all time IMO

My favorite verse of all time in music. Strawberry Fields Forever by the Beatles.

Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see.
It's getting hard to be someone but it all works out.
It doesn't matter much to me.

My favorite chorus is also the Beatles. Hey Jude:

And anytime you feel the pain, hey Jude, refrain
Don't carry the world upon your shoulders
For well you know that it's a fool who plays it cool
By making his world a little colder

My favorite complete song is Time by Pink Floyd:

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
And you are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say

BREATHE REPRISE
Home, home again
I like to be here when I can
And when I come home cold and tired
It’s good to warm my bones beside the fire
Far away across the field
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spells.

Shooter Jennings - Summer of Rage

Chaos is hangin' around, put your ear to the ground and shutter from the sound
The death machine ain't slowing down it's gaining pound for pound
a gas mask is the couture in the summer of rage
they're building mass graves for their mistakes, you and i they'll vaccinate
they're preparing us for an all out police state

hush, hush little child, your world is going wild
can't trust nothing but the love in your momma's eyes
hush, hush little child
salvation's in your smile, just wish that i could be alive to see the hole in your eyes

our only weapon is total defiance, let our love for our neighbors guide us
speak loud when they try to silence, withhold when they try to fight us

hush, hush little child, your world is going wild
can't trust nothing but the love in your momma's eyes
hush, hush little child
salvation's in your smile, just wish that i could be alive to see the hole in your eyes

hush, hush little child, your world is going wild
can't trust nothing but the love in your momma's eyes
hush, hush little child
salvation's in your smile, just wish that i could be alive to see the hole in your eyes

I Drive by the homeless sleepin on a cold dark street,
their bodies in an open grave,
underneath the broken old neon sign,
that used to read Jesus Saves...

Nightswimming - R.E.M.

Nightswimming deserves a quiet night.
The photograph on the dashboard, taken years ago,
Turned around backwards so the windshield shows.
Every streetlight reveals the picture in reverse.
Still, it's so much clearer.
I forgot my shirt at the water's edge.
The moon is low tonight.

Nightswimming deserves a quiet night.
I'm not sure all these people understand.
It's not like years ago,
The fear of getting caught,
Of recklessness and water.
They cannot see me naked.
These things, they go away,
Replaced by everyday.

Nightswimming, remembering that night.
September's coming soon.
I'm pining for the moon.
And what if there were two
Side by side in orbit
Around the fairest sun?
That bright, tight forever drum
Could not describe nightswimming.

You, I thought I knew you.
You I cannot judge.
You, I thought you knew me,
this one laughing quietly underneath my breath.
Nightswimming.

The photograph reflects,
Every streetlight a reminder.
Nightswimming deserves a quiet night, deserves a quiet night.

BTW, I also think DMB has some very underrated lyrical songs. Two Step, #41, Say Goodbye, etc....

Dismember -- "Let the Napalm Rain". Sums up my opinion of religion nicely!

Indoctrination since early youth
murder of the free thinking mind
religion the root of all evil
the source of all suffering

Deeper and deeper into the void
across the wasteland of your mind
lying to live, living their lie
they make you betray your own kind

Life of agony
you have chosen your way
self induced misery
you are led astray

The free will shall carry the day
drop the bomb and wash the filth away
let the napalm rain

Step into the sickening light
into ruins of heavenly might
embide yourself in their moral vanity
sell your soul to insanity

Religion is an excuse
for a lack of character
something to fall back on
when all else fails

Islam, Hindu, Christianity
it's all based on lies
there is no key to paradise
believe in yourself and all gods die
