I think he ended up with 30.1 and I believe it said he is the youngest player to win the title.

Yes, he is the youngest.

Wish that the Cavs were in a tighter race at the end to see LeBron vs. Durant go at it for the league title.

But I don't think this will be the last scoring title for Durant, dude is a beast.

I don't think he's the best scorer in the league, but one of them. But, no matter what anyones opinion is, he holds that title for this year.

He'll be in this race for the next 10 years.

Well PPG is part of the argument is it not?

I think LeBron is hands down the best scorer in the league. Durant can have that title this year, as he scored more points. Doesn't necessarily make him the best scorer in the league though--too many variables to say that, his team needed it more. Not to mention LeBron's assist numbers, he defers to his teammates more and still comes that close--and sits a number of games down the stretch. Like I said, Durant gets to carry the title of the best scorer--I'm not taking anything away from him. Regardless of my opinion, that's what winning the scoring title does for you. But I don't actually think he's a better scorer than LeBron.

Durant also shoots 47%, LeBron is at 50%.

Again, not taking anything away from Durant. He's awesome, I was simply disagreeing with the notion of him being the best scorer. He won the scoring title, which is highest PPG, and I have no beef with that. They have to award the scoring title based on something, and PPG makes you a deserving winner.

LOL, wow, how quickly you change your tune when Lebron is no longer the scoring leader.

if u really want to bring up who the best scorer its either Melo or Kobe *waits for lebron fan to point out his latest stats*

Melo and Kobe can both score from 3, midrange, driving, and post up game. Lebron does not have a midrange or post up game. Since Kobe has fallen off at the end of this year i would give it to Melo.

All I can say is

LOL

to Kobe being mentioned in this argument.

The top scorer in the league doesn't average 8 points a game over a multiple game streak.

This aint 2007, brah.

You beat me to it dat dude. Once I read that, all I could remember was that one thread. Epic fail SQ. I think that's the worst I've seen from you. No matter how you try to spin is this time, you have most definitely changed your tune now that your boy isn't at the top.

I'll never understand either. He's got the best body for it. I just honestly think he doesn't have the skill set yet. The closest we've seen was one game during the Orlando series. He's still young... I hope we'll see it in 5 years.

mise well post the quotes LOL
I love that he's the next in line to be called the best scorer in the league. I just love this argument because it really makes people look dumb. REALLY dumb. They keep a stat to tell who is the best scorer in the league--it's called PPG.
No, everyone else has a ridiculous argument that someone with a pretty jump shot is a better "pure scorer". I don't even think people read what they're actually typing. How does that even make sense? The best scorer is the guy averaging the most points. It's incredible that he goes on that long a streak of 25+ and he's still behind LeBron. I'll make this argument for any guy who is at the top of the scoring list. The point is, there is no argument when you're talking about who the best scorer is. If there was, then why even keep PPG stats?
It is black and white.

LeBron 1766 points.
Durant 1667 points.

1667 is not more than 1766.

If shot attempts matter then LeBron is shooting 50% from the field, Durant 48%.

Anything else?

29.9>29.8

They keep the stat for a reason. They give scoring titles based on it. They give scoring titles to the best scorer in the league in a given year--there is no BS argument, because more points is more points, period.
Ummm...clearly. Because it isn't an opinion. You're right, stats don't tell everything--but PPG tell me who the top scorer in the league is.
If that was the case and they were at the top, then Durant is the better scorer. Who would the NBA give the scoring title to? LeBron, because he's on a team of All Stars and if he wasn't...well, he'd have more points! LOL, no. They'd give it to Durant. There is no argument for who wins the scoring title--it's whoever scores the most points. They are the best scorer in a given year. It IS that black and white. There are no variables, if the ball went in the hoop it went in the hoop--if not, then it didn't. That's the only variable.
Bottom line is, it is black and white, there are no variables, etc., when talking about scoring. Points are points. No one cares how you got them, how pretty it was, nothing like that. If you lead the league in scoring then you lead the league in scoring--there is not argument.
They're awarded the scoring title for being the best scorer. How is a guy the best scorer when another guy has the scoring title?! LMAO!

Using 5% of your brain would be forming a conclusion based on a sigle statistic in a vacuum.

This just really makes me LOL. So, when asked a simple question that can be answered by looking at ONE stat, I need to be coming up with a Hollinger-like formula based on everything we know to figure out who the best scorer is? Sorry. Scoring is based on one stat, so I'm not sure why I'd need others to help my argument. Scoring is points, period. Doesn't go any further than that.
Well, LeBron won it. But Kobe scored the most points. They give it out based on average, that's fine. Average makes perfect sense, it doesn't really matter either way--more is more. End of story. Teammates, shot attempts, blah, blah, blah. None of it matters. Points are points, whoever scores more of them is the best scorer. So there you go, you can look at it multiple ways--total points or PPG. But that's it. Other than POINTS nothing else matters.

LOL...um, like I said, you win the scoring title and they call you the best scorer. He won it, he gets to own that title this year. But I don't think he's the best scorer in the league. He just scored more points this season.

Also, like I said, PPG is part of the argument. I even mentioned the shooting percentages and assists in the other thread. But, have a laugh at me, doesn't make much sense but whatever.

Like I said, he gets to hold that title for the year whether I agree or not. The numbers say he is the best scorer. I don't think he's the best scorer in the league, that's sort of a different argument. I'm not disputing his right to be called that this year--doesn't mean I have to agree with it. I get why it sounds weird, but you didn't exactly catch me backtracking anywhere here...but like I said, whatever. :D
