I admit i never saw him play in college. Never heard his name until they drafted him but then again I dont pay attention to college football.
Im basing my opiniion on what I have seen and by reports by steeers beat writers that he practices like he plays....meaning he drops balls alot. Plus with his mystery illness, of which rumored is mental, and the fact they went out and got some WR's lead me to believe they have Z E R O faith in him contributing to this team.
Or they had zero faith in Santonio cleaning up his act and being a contributor to this team

In which case, they saw the need to bring in several WR's to help fill the void if they knew ahead of time that they wanted him gone. I can't disagree with you on Sweed's mental issues thus far, it is evident that his dropsies are a result of a lack of focus or mental issue. It would be a huge boost if he could be a solid contributor this year.
I think with HOlmes, why he was released had N O T H I N G to do with his ability on the field. It has everything to do with his off teh field shit like this upcoming suspension, last year of his contract, and such. PLus...sending a message to the team and he was the fall guy. Enough was enough for the Rooney's.
His drop in Cincy that woulda locked up that game..and very well helped the team make the playoffs and send the season in another direction really is what I think was the last straw.
His drop in the AFC champ game..and then fake injury that cost stelers a TO.........B R U T A L
