Great, great defense by the Habs being down 2 men, and then a great save by Halak.

Bruins scored to make it 1-0.

ptown, what in the hell is up with Washington? I'm finding it hard to believe that the Caps firepower can't find a way to light it up consistently against Montreal. I know they have goaltending issues and the defense can be suspect at times but their shear offensive firepower should easily overcome a squad like the Habs.

The Caps defense has been the same, bad and the goaltending spotty, like during the year. The difference is the Caps are getting lazy on offense, and really the Habs are playing great defense when they need to. It is a combination of the Caps being in a bad offensive funk (If you can call it that still scoring at least 3 goals a game) and the Habs playing good enough defense to win. Halak has made key saves when he needs to.

I also think it is a "will" issue. As the Caps seemed to have that elite, we will show up and win approach, while the Habs come with a nitty, gritty determination. I think the fact that the Caps played in such a weak division, and had such a cushion, has shown that when push comes to shove, the team can't find that extra gear, while the Habs have been in playoff mode for the last month.

The Caps are on the PP now. Halak with a great save.

Bruins got a goal at the start of the 2nd and the Sabers just responded, 2-1 Bruins halfway through the game.

Jeesh, Habs had a tons of shots on that PP to end the period.
End of 2, Habs 2, Caps 0. Caps just could not answer at the start of the period. Halak is playing outside his mind.

Bruins lead the Sabers 2-1, end of 2.

SOG, 32-13 favoring the Caps. Halak is playing great and the Caps cannot get any rebounds in. The Habs are playing great defense.

Wow, shot from the top of the circle and the Habs are up 3-0. No excuse to stop that one.

Halak's performance is right up there with Anderson's of the Avs as the best playoff goalie performance tonight. Amazing stuff.

Bruins still up on the Sabers 3-2, 10 to go.
Hawks and Preds a few minutes in scoreless.

Ah, the streak snaps, Green to Fehr for a goal. Halak, 51 saves before that goal.
3-1, 4:50 left.

Bruins add another, 4-2, under 5.
Hawks ahead 2-1.

Empty netter seals it. What a game by Halak. He faced the record amount of shots by the Caps in regular in the playoffs. Who would have thought a game 7 in DC?
4-1 Final, Habs.
Wow.
Game 7, Wednesday night.

Sabers get a goal, making it interesting, Bruins 4-3.

Bruins win 4-3, advancing, joining the Pens and Flyers in the East.

Things setting up well for the Pens with the Devils and Sabres out and the Caps playing a game 7.

All I can say is WOW. I kind of saw the Devils/Flyers series playing out the way it did but I didn't think the Bruins had enough left to beat the Sabres and I never thought the Caps would be pushed to seven games by the Habs.......no way! If Montreal can pull off the impossible, Pittsburgh would be the highest remaining seed in the East and have home ice in the Conference Finals if they can manage to get there.

That said, home ice hasn't been worth a nickel during these playoffs and I still don't see Montreal pulling off a game seven upset in Washington.

If Chicago can't close it out here, I think they lose a game 7.

End of 2, Hawks up 4-3.

These playoffs have been amazing. The path for the Pens is opening up. Still a lot of hockey though.
This is why I love NHL Playoff hockey.

^^^^^It doesn't get any better than the NHL playoffs. These guys literally lay it on the line in every game.

Yeah they do. I remember last night in the Wings-Yotes game, on a Wings PP in the 3rd, a Yotes defensemen near the net got hit or something. He went down, rolled around, then got up, shook it off and played defense the best he could as the Wings were on the PP. Only when the puck was clear of the zone did he head to the bench.

You don't think they can win a game 7 at home? Just another of the many haters.
