Do you enjoy playing the board game Risk? Well visit this website below and you can play Risk online for free. I'm a member and I think it's pretty cool. It would be pretty cool to play some of my OhioChatter buddies. Check it out.

I hate to be Debbie Downer, but I can't help myself. I hate Risk.

Risk is a terrible game. The "strategy" in it can be figured out by a typical 10 year old within about 15 mins. Beyond that, it's largely dependent on rolling dice, getting lucky, and falling in the right turn order. Even worse, a game can take way too long.

There are lots of good strategy games out there there are interesting, compelling, require some thought, are fun to play, and don't take forever.

Some pretty decent "intro" games that play quickly and otherwise fit the bill are Power Grid, Settlers of Catan, and Ticket to Ride. You can find them all either online or at a local game store. Diplomacy is an old classic that isn't too complicated but brings in some great interpersonal fun.

If you want something a bit more in depth, try Here I Stand. Or, what I'm playing now, Advanced Squad Leader, though it takes some work to get used to. But if you're looking for the ultimate in tactical thinking for a board game, that's probably the way to go.

I completely agree with this, except I don't hate Risk. I love to play but I can't really argue with any of those points. My buddies and I made a drinking game out of it which makes it way more fun because it is based on luck. Unless you're a ratard.

Haven't played Risk in years, but always had a fun time doing it. Pretty much won every time I've played ...even when all I had control of at first was Australia.

Actually, in the games I've played with my friends, the person who has controlled Australia first has won nearly every time because it's the easiest way to take Asia.

LOL @ risk being about luck. Sure that's a component, but there's a lot of strategy involved that can swing the battle into your favor. The best advice I can give is never over extend yourself, play very defense. You want to always have the edge as much as possible in fights and rolling the defensive dice more often than not, it will swing the game in your favor.

No. It's about luck. The retards always get knocked off real quick unless they get extremely lucky. It's all in the roll of the dice when you're playing with people who know the strategy. And like FFT said, a 10 year old can figure out the strategy in 15 minutes.

Settlers of Catan is one of the greatest games ever. How many games will you hear someone say "Got wood, need sheep"? Great strategy and funny at the same time.

If I get lucky with the dice I win every single time I play. The guys I've played with would tell you the exact same thing. Whoever gets lucky with the dice and the timing of the turns and cards wins the game.

I can't change your mind, you've already got a pretty strong stance on the subject so essentially it'd be a waste of my time to try and prove you wrong. Even if I post evidence that completely RUINS your position on the matter, you'll then spend time trying to rationalize your broken stance.

Trust me, I didn't get into Ohio State because I'm super sexy, I got in because I'm super sexy and ridiculously intelligent.

Here's a really quick start, its all about probability, not luck.

Knowing when to roll and when not to roll is part of the strategy. It's still luck based on what turns up on the dice.

And I bet poker is all about luck too?

Are you really that dense?

Sure, over the short term, people get "lucky" but over an infinite amount of iterations the odds will come into the favor of the player who plays the right way, and you can take that to the bank.

Yes, poker is about luck. You can make every read you want to make, you have no say over what cards you are dealt and what cards get flipped over. Your job is to figure out what your opponent has, not to use magic to get your card dealt.

There is a probability of you getting struck by lightning or winning the lottery too.
