Whats his status with his arbitration. Id think he would be up as soon as they lock up that extra year.

Not sure on the timing.

Hopefully that has nothing to do with his call up....but we are talking about Dolan's money.

Don't you have to wait to June to lock up the extra year?......... If I was an Indians fan I couldn't put up with much more Redmond or Marson.

^^Im really not sure. I thought it had to do with if he has ever been called up, etc. Santana never got the September call up so his arbitration might be earlier (or it could be the other way around). I really dont know the rules on that part of baseball.

Regardelss, I would like to think talent wins out over money...but I wasnt born last night.

After doing some research I got this
Now we all have seen the cases of minor league stars falling on their faces in the big leagues. Well, ownership is covered there as well. A player is not eligible for arbitration for three years, and that turns into four years if the team strategically calls a player up in June rather than having him break spring training with the club.

That also assuming that, once he gets called up, he has to produce so he can have a case to arbitrate.

Thats true. But he would have 2 years to produce even if he sucked for a year and a half.

Hell, the way Redmond is behind the plate he'll be injured within a week or two.

Lonnie Chisenall I believe is just learning to play third after moving over from shortstop noway does he see Cleveland this year unless it is a late season call up.

Chisenhall may not see Cleveland this year, but Wes Hodges might.

He's hitting .391 for Columbus at 3rd base.

Santana hit his 5th HR last night.

Carlos Carrasco pitched well for Cbus.

I plan on listening to the Clippers game today and getting the up to date stats on how Mr. Santanna does as far as defense goes.

I thought I read last season where he is some what (using my own wording here)Victor Martinez like behind the plate. I could be wrong that is why I am going to get the stats from the guys in the booth.

If I am correct that might be another reason he is still in the minors.

ESPN has its own version of Santana watch on Insider and I forget which writer says he is Victor Martinez that can catch. I know in spring training the talk was that he has a cannon for an arm but his pop time sucked because he was still standing straight up and then firing it to second as opposed to just hopping up and throwing the ball. Other than that I have not heard any negative about his defense.

Defense is not a problem, for the most part. He's got a great arm and has improved blocking balls in the dirt.

He needs work on calling pitches and handling situations. Most of this is due to his communication problems. This is the reason he started the season at AAA. They wanted him to work on the English language and improve on calling pitches.

His bat is definately ML ready.

Isn't the whole reason he isn't up here to begin with....because of something to do with arbitration?

He will be up soon, unless it means the cheapass owner has to pay him sooner than later.

Damn...if I'd seen him play in Akron a couple more times last year he'd be all mine right now. What a missed opportunity. SMH.

Just got this info yesterday

Last year at Akron Carlos threw out about 30% of the runners trying swipe a base.

This year at Columbus he is at 30% once again.

His biggest weakness acording tot he guys who watch him everyday said he takes much to long getting the out of the mit to his throwing arm.

I can remember reading when Victor was throwning out over 30% of the base runners and everyone saying how horrible he was and how many of you were blaming the pitcher and pitching coach.

So who will be the blame if C.S. does not get better at this?
