This should be quite the phone battle this summer, with the Nexus One on T-Mobile, AT&T, and very shortly Sprint (Google has cancelled the Verizon Nexus One), the EVO on Sprint, Droid Incredible on Verizon, and the 4G iPhone. Not to mention we could see Palm put all their eggs in one basket for one last crack at blowing people out of the water with a new webOS phone. (They're gonna need it, if it flops, its bankruptcy city for Palm).

The Nexus One isn't and won't sell that many because it wasn't the point of the phone. The point of the Nexus One was to make a reference model or benchmark that Android phones from here on out should try to meet or surpass. They weren't trying to make a "Google Phone" in the sense that the iPhone is the "Apple Phone".

The Nokia N8 looks fantastic too.

I like the looks of those and to be honest, the best looking phones are Dell's line that they are releasing. Not sure how good the Dell phones will be, but they are pretty cool looking anyway.

Google isn't in the business of not trying to make money. I see what you're saying, and its true to an extent, but look for some more aggressive advertising, and/or an overhaul of the Google phone store, as their sales were well below expectations. There is money to be made off the Nexus One, otherwise they wouldn't be expanding its sales to other carriers like they are going to do shortly.

When I was at Best Buy yesterday, the phone sales guy was telling me that there have been a lot of problems with the Nexus One dropping 3g coverage. All the reviews that I have read are very good for it, but if that is true, that is a major problem.

PS. I got my Incredible yesterday and I highly recommend it. It is very fast and responsive....it blows the doors off of all the other current droids.

I don't know if the 3g coverage is a problem with the N1 design or if it is the network they are running on.

I also received an Incredible yesterday and it is a very nice phone but I wouldn't say that it blows all the droids (vzw droids) away. The Moto Droid will still compete very will with HTC's new offering.

VERY glad to hear you say that Jawbreaker!

The droid is very capable and there really isn't much difference in the OS that each is running. I think that the Incredible is a little more responsive(probably because of the snapdragon processor) and I like how thin it is(it doesn't have that physical keyboard).

The Snapdragon processor was available when Motorola made the Droid. However, they passed and opted for the two separate processors instead to allow for a better multitasking experience.

I use this analogy when talking to reps about the difference. The Snapdragon is like the newest sports car. It's flashy, it's fast, everyone would love to have it. But it takes a lot of maintenance, and it only seats two, with absolutely no room anywhere to load up all of your stuff for vacation. Motorola's Droid A8 processor with a dedicated Texas Instruments processor is more like the newer SUVs. They're attractive, without being too flashy, and are not the fastest things on the road, but are not sputtering around by any means. You can load it up, and still have room to seat your whole family. It's reliable, safe, and is going to last a long time.

They weren't trying to lose money but they weren't trying to compete in the consumer market for the most part. I mean, great if they sold phones to consumers but they really didn't give a shit.

They aren't expanding as much as they were going to (Verizon no longer happening) and they literally said it's a better phone. You don't say that if you're trying to compete. This is their reference model. After a bit of time they'll come out with a Nexus Two which the manufactures will then be expected to meet/surpass in build quality/features.

My Droid Incredible will be here in the morning, I'm stoked!

My bro-in-law got the Incredible. It was pretty slick. If the report I saw today that the iPhone won't be coming to Verizon until 2011 is true I might be switching to it.

I figured Apple would have announced the iPhone coming to Verizon at their big announcement last month, so it wouldn't surprise me if they were holding off.

They'll announce whatever they have cooking in June or August probably. So earliest you'll see it is probably Fall 2010.
