A good one from today on my feed:
Happy Easter everyone!!!! My favorite holiday, I can't believe he would die for me!!! I love him so much!!!
My favorite Easter status thus far has been a friend of mine comparing Jesus and The Beatles (didn't go so hot the first time around, if I recall...), in saying that it's easy to make fun of Jesus...but not so easy to make fun of The Beatles. And, here I quote: "If Jesus had swoopy hair, played lead guitar, and recorded his message at Abbey Road, would he be easier to listen to? The independent artist who lived in 30AD died long before vinyls, CDs, and myspace music. Jesus had no major label to promote him, no microphone, no sex appeal. He must have done something worth remembering."
The message, at the core, is commendable, though likely not an original thought....but amidst the "likes", someone pointed out that the comparison was very apples/oranges, and a bit flawed. Not to mention, I mean....I think I know a ton of people that make fun of the Beatles. In some ways, it's become the "cool" thing to do, in indie music circles.
