If you pray...please do. My sister went to the hospital today b/c she has felt full for the last 2 days and hasn't been able to eat. Her stomach felt very hard, as well as sudden weight gain over a short period of time. After doing X-Rays and Ultrasounds...they found a tumor in her stomach the size of a basketball. Not sure if it's cancerous or not. She is currently on her way to OSU's Cancer Center for surgery. Hopefully it's just a benign tumor.

A few years back, I had a co-worker whose son had a benign tumor in his abdomen. She brought it in when it was removed. It might not have been basketball size, but it was close. With the way a human body is composed, organs and stuff have some leeway to move...the tumor just slightly displaced them and filled up the areas in between things. The reason his tumor was found was because he was a skinny kid and found a hard lump around his belly button region due to it poking out. When I saw the tumor, I was shocked it could have fit in the kid's torso region, to be honest.

Will keep her and your family in our prayers. She's at the best place for care, as my wife had two surgeries there last year by Dr. Scott Melvin. He's a wonderful man with a great staff.

my point was i just thought it would have been picked up sooner than this because of the size

UA..my sis has always had an issue with fluctuating weight loss and gain...that's nothing new..so when she started gaining weight again..she didn't think nothing of it..just starting dieting again..and that was the end of it. Obviously..now she knows why the dieting wasn't working this time.
As of right now...they are going to have the surgery to remove it on Monday. They had her all hyped up believing she was going to be able to come home today until they do the surgery on Monday, but now they are telling her she has to stay there until the surgery. So, she's pretty upset about that right now. She can't come home b/c her white blood cell count and heart rate are both very high. They are getting ready to do a cat scan now to see if the tumor is laying on any major blood vessels b/c they don't understand why her heart is racing the way it is.
Thanks everyone for the thoughts. They are greatly appreciated.

She's not fighting cancer...she's just got a tumor in her stomach. It's gonna turn out to be benign (non cancerous).mtrulz wrote: One of my best friends is fighting cancer too.
