since the noise levels at the Schott this year were being discussed, I figured I'd ask: what is the loudest game you have been to at the Schott?

For me it was Wisconsin at Ohio State on Feb. 25th, 2007.

Conley drove to the hoop to give the Bucks a 1 point lead with 4 seconds left and we held on to win 49-48 and clinch the Big Ten Championship

What about 2005 when Ohio State knocked off Unbeaten and #1 ranked Illinois?

I was at that game.....loudest that I have ever attended at the Schott.

I would be interested in hearing about the OSU v Ill game mentioned above. Watched on television...but did not attend.

I was in attendance and it's the loudest I've ever heard the Schott. Probably been to 3-4 games per year every year since 2002.

Just from what fans have said, I would take the Illinois upset as the loudest -- although that Wisconsin game also gets mentioned by fans who went to both games.

The entire ending to the Illinois/Ohio State game in 2005 - http://buckeyes.fandome.com/video/62885/Matt-Sylvester-With-the-Game-Winner-vs-Illinois/

Its so loud that it I have to turn the volume down on the computer. I can only imagine how loud it was in person. This is what college basketball is all about! Crazy atmosphere.

Let me point out that the loudest the schott can get is not even close to a loud St. John Arena......

With that said another game to throw into the discussion was the 2008 OSU-Dayton game in the NIT......was very loud.

Out of the over 50 games I've witnessed at the Schott, here's my Top 3:

1. Illinois/OSU 2005- Even though I've seen quite a few marquee match-ups, no game matched the 2nd half of this ball game. And the place just exploded when Sylvester hit that shot.

2. OSU/ Dayton 2008- That game really proved to me that it's not how many people are at The Schott, it's who has the good seats. Everyday Buckeye fans who typically only enjoy the nosebleed seats, if at all, had the opportunity to sit in the prime seats for this one. It was the only time I can remember (along w/the UNC Wilmington 1st round NIT game) that the tickets were sold on a first come, first serve basis (no seat-liscense/faculty involved). Adding in the solid UD contingent, and The Schott was actually electric that night. For an NIT game.

3. OSU/MSU 2000- At that point, it was the biggest game to date at The Schott. The Bucks were coming off their Final 4 season and both teams were in the Top 10. Dick Vitale was actually in Columbus (think he's been back only once or twice since). George Reese had a huge game and the Bucks prevailed.

I agree about the St.John Arena statement. I remember how loud it was when I went to games there as a kid and watching ESPN classic/BTN games from there on TV is painful knowing the atmosphere we have now. But after writing numerous e-mails over the years to folks at OSU (complaining/offering suggestions, etc.), I've let it go. You just have to enjoy the 2-3 times a year The Schott has a decent atmosphere . I would rank Tuesday night against Illinois as one of those.

I'd have to say when Sylvester drained the 3 to upset Illinois.

Illinois upset.

Wisconsin in 2007.

One of the more fun atmospheres was actually the game the night before the OSU/Michigan #1/#2 matchup in 2006. It was OSU's opener and the place was buzzing in anticipation of the football game.

Having been to all these games mentioned so far, it's definitely the Illinois game. It was unbeeeeelievable. The whole sequence of eeking their way back into the game, building up to Sylvester's shot was unreal. I remember being 100% sure Head's shot was going to go down on that posession before because that's just the way that Illinois season was going. But yes, the shot has to be the loudest.
