Thabeet sent to D-League's Dakota Wizards. Ouch.

Fair to label as a huge bust yet?
(Didn't see a thread on this, figured it needed one)

Not quite yet...but if he doesn't rebound in the next year and a half...then yes

Yeah, #2 pick. Highest pick yet to play in the D-league (edging out Martell Webster for this illustrious honor).

Not at all surprised. I thought he wasn't worthy of top 14 consideration. All he did was block shots in college and rebound a bit. He isn't nearly strong enough or aggressive enough to do that in the NBA. Having no offense hurts too. His hope now is to have a career like Roy in Indiana.

From his ESPN page:

News: Thabeet will only spend 10 days in the D-League, the Memphis Commercial Appeal reports.
Spin: He will get to play in six games over those 10 days, which should give him a good opportunity to rack up some minutes.

He's actually not played that badly this year, he just isn't playing much. Shooting 58%. 2.5 points, 3 boards, and over 1 block in 10 minutes per game.

He's obviously very raw, but it isn't like he's been completely clueless. I think he still has upside. I don't think anyone ever penciled him in as an offensive force. If he can become a double double guy who controls the paint on D I think the Grizzlies would get exactly what they were looking for.

If they get Noah type numbers, they'd be very happy.

I see him being very similar to Noah. Dumb pick by the Grizz. You should never pick somebody that you know needs to develop on the offensive side of the ball. He wasn't good offensively at UCONN, what makes you think he'll be good in the NBA?

I never understood the fascination with him. He was a good college player because of his size, but I never thought it would translate to the NBA.
