Oh yes..I know..we have a 6 year old as well...that's all I've ever had..my mom and dad raised Huskies for as long as I can remember. They just recently quit breeding them. And yes..she is talking. :@ Lol..the 5 year old is actually very quiet.

We always had Rottweilers and Boxers. Now that we saved Nash from the shelter, I will always have a Siberian ! He is awesome. I live on 3 acres and had invisible fence put a system around my property, bisecting a pond as well. What a challenge it was to get him to stay in the yard ! The Huskys pain threshold is immense ! Now that he has it down , he stays out when he wants and comes and goes as he pleases. Always returning at dinner time and when my wifey makes lunches! LOL
Glad to hear he will be fine ! Enjoy her !

Thanks..although shes not of the woods yet..it does seem like the odds are on her side. Huskies are great dogs! Can be challenging at times..ESPECIALLY when trying to get them to stay in a yard. That's why we have the 6 ft. privacy fence..don't have to worry about it. Can let them out and don't have to worry about them running away. The invisible fences never worked for my parents...as you said...they just ran right through it naturally, since they are running dogs.

My first instinct was to call my vet. Luckily I have never been in that situation since but the vet I have now would never have let that happen and I trust him.

Unfortunately the vet is still in practice in T-County but not his own practice. He works for another vet after he disappeared for a while. I later learned he had many issues where people were not happy with him.

I should get the list of 24 hour vet hospitals from OSU and post it here as a reference. They have a list of everyone that is staffed for ICU care in the state of Ohio because of the drive time being too long for basic emergencies.
That was a field back when this happened. They had an office I forget where but they were not 24 hour then. On Call maybe, I don't remember but I do get your point. As stated this is no longer an issue for me. My vet will come in whenever he is needed as do most of the vets in our area. This vet said he would and promised to do what he should have done but didn't.

You're from Logan too? Do you know the Armstrong family? Their daughter is in Vet School at OSU. Gochiefs knows her.

Good luck with your dog. They can be like a family member A friend lost both his beagles to parvo. So you can't be too careful.

I was never a dog person until I met my girlfriend. She had 2 dogs, both she saved from the shelter. Last year we spent $3200 to have one of the dogs' knees replaced. He was miserable before the operation and gained a ton of weight... After he is active, pain free and enjoys swimming in the pool in the summer. Our newest dog Brewster is a "Uranian" or a yorkie-pom. He is just a little guy, but he is my bud. When I work 24 hour shifts he lays by the door all day waiting on me to come home and can't sleep unless he is right up against me. Dogs are amazing animals and if anything ever happened to him I would be a wreck. He is one of the best dogs in the world and my bud.

Last night she wasn't doing any better...when the vets made their shift change..the new vet went in to check on her...she said she didn't even lift her head up to acknowledge her or see who it was, or she wouldn't even move at all. So that meant she was in a lot of pain. This morning, she is up and moving around a little bit, hasn't vomited anymore since yesterday morning, vet came in to check her stomach (she LOVES her belly rubbed), and as soon as she put her hand down by her belly..Dakota rolled over so she could rub it. Her red blood cells are up as well. She still hasn't ate anything..they are going to try to get her to do that this afternoon. So..she is doing better...but not out of the woods just yet.

GoChiefs, as I told you about our pups, our vet had us force feeding them warm chicken broth with a syringe. It was a struggle but as I said we saved all four of them. Good luck.

Dogs don't eat at the vet until they feel comfortable.

Using one of our two dogs (golden)


I would like to thank GoChiefs because if this ever does happen you have saved me big bucks.
We now have a dollar and cents limit .............
I thought for sure she would go the extreme and state unlimited amount to save the pet...

I was wrong............... $500.00 Her words "It's a dog"
I love it when husband and wife agree.................

I did inform her that a Brighton Purse is almost $500.00 ....Oh! She said you're right ...$700.00

You had me worried for a minute there go chiefs. Glad to read she is doing a little better. Rolling over to have her belly patted is a good sign I would think.

They force fed her a few pieces of food..and she did drink a little bit of water on her own...and they finally gave her the Tamiflu..she's kept all that down...but with all the fluids they have given her...she still hasn't pissed. They X-Rayed her..her bladder is full..so they are giving her until tonight to go..if she doesn't..they are going to sedate her and put a catheter(sp?) in her.

a vet should be able to cath without charging you for sedation. That is one thing I have seen a lot in the times I have gone to the VTH is dogs being cath'd with no sedation.

Much easier said than done..just ask Coyote..the very night before we had to take her to the vet..I said there was no way I'd spend money on a fucking dog. Well..you see how well that went. It's much different when your in the situation and have to do it.

They are still going to sedate her..but there won't be a charge for it they said. There was a reason for them wanting to sedate her...but I don't remember what it was.

Whatever they feel comfortable with as long as they aren't doing it just so they can charge you.

I understand prefectly.......She talk the talk now but in a real situation ....?????? However I do now have some documentation to support ...It's just a dog ...$700.00
