The Jackets are 14th out of 15th in their conference, but they are just 9 points out of the playoffs. They have 22 games left to make up those 9 points.

So, do you think they will turn the season around under Noel and make the playoffs?

Too little too late. But I'm optimistic for next season...

"Only" nine points, but too many teams to jump over.

9 points out behind 6 teams is the equivalent of about 20-22 points out. Given the schedules remaining, it's almost impossible to make up that deficit. Not all the teams ahead of them can lose enough at this point. The Jackets would have to play like .850 hockey to be in contention.

Hell the Pens were like 12th last year when they fired their coach........

but really.....they had Crosby, Geno, MAF, and a team that was in the finals the yr prior...

No way the CBJ can make up that run...no way.

The west is too deep and strong. Hell, even the Red Wings and Flames might not make this year. They'll have to pull off what the Blue did last year, and there's not enough games left to end the season making the playoffs.

No they won't make it. As stated earlier, only 9 points out, but too many teams to leap over. And most teams have 1, 2, or 3 games in hand.

Here's a nugget for you, if they CBJ were in the East, they would be right in the playoff hunt.

^^Maybe. Or maybe they would have even less points if they had to play all their games vs the east........

No chance. This is a very bad team that is just experiencing the bump that most teams get after they change coaches mid-season. They will return to form in the next week or so. (Just listen for the giant sucking sound and you'll know they are back.)

Being out 9 points always gives you hope that they can make the playoffs, but the you see the number of teams that they will have to pass to get into the playoffs. I don't think that they can recover and pass all of these teams to make the playoffs.

I kind of disagree. This team has pieces. Mason played TERRIBLY for much of the season so far, however, if he becomes the Mason of old and allows 0-2 goal games for the majority of the games, then I think you will see a huge increase in Wins to Losses.

We've allowed more goals than almost every team in the league.

Mason played great against Buffalo. He looked like the Mason from last year.

Did you watch the game?
He made some great saves. That may have been his best performance of the season.

I said I agree. Then said (shutout) as in, he allowed zero points. What would make you think I didn't watch it based on that?

If you read my post earlier, you'd see that I was seeing WHEN Mason was playing poorly (THAT LOOOOONG Stretch of time) is when we were LOSING most of our GAMES..

Someone said "THIS IS A BAD TEAM"

NOoo... When Mason had his shit together we weren't that bad of team.

Get it now?

Of course I watched it. He played great. WHEN HE PLAYS GREAT WE ARE A PRETTY GOOD TEAM.

Geez.

Its not that hard to pick up a newspaper, turn on the TV, go to the Jackets website, go to ESPN, etc. You don't have to watch the game in order to see that Mason had a shutout. I wasn't sitting beside you watching the game with you. How would I know if you watched it or not?

Unless ya see the game ya dont really know how good a goalie played. Ive seen some gaames when a GT gets a shutout or 1 goal and isnt tested much but games where a guy gives up 2 goals but had to put up with so many tough chances because of the lack of defense in front of him.

Kinda like in baseball for a pitcher...ya can only tell so much by the box score. Guy may pitch 5 innings and give up 0 runs but actually make more quality pitches the next time out and give up 2 runs but because of flukes and stuff ya just cannot tell unless you watch.

I watch Blue Jacket games (Either in person or on TV)

It's also easy to see a box score in the standings of us allowing 190 goals when most good teams have allowed 145 .. you don't win many games like that.

Oh I know...I wasnt saying anything pointed towards you. Over the full season stats you do get a good picture of how a player is performing but in just one particular game such as the one in question ya really dont always know how great a guy did solely by looking at his box score for a goalie and such

Even if you haven't watched any Jackets games this season, you can tell that there is a big difference between our goaltending this year and last year. If we can get stronger goalie play, we will be a much better team. Now saying this, a lot of the goalie troubles have been due to poor defensive play.

As of right now if the CBJ played in the east they'd be 12th. They would have a an alirght chance of making it but, when they've played teams from the east they haven't faired well. The CBJ have 57pts. this is how it would look. (w/o the top 5 teams NJ, Wsh, Buf, Pit, Ott)

6. Tampa bay 63pts
7. Montreal Canadiens 62pts
8. Philly Flyers 61pts
------------------------------------
9. boston bruins 61pts
10. NYR 59pts
11. ATL Thrashers 58pts
12. "CBJ" 57pts (They would be in the thick of things but I doubt they'd make the playoffs in the east.)

Be close but I think they sneak in. For some reason I see Mase getting fiery and leading this team. The Olympic break will help him tremendously. The only reason I am hesitant is our goal scoring. It needs to increase 2 fold easily.
