I do think Jodie Meeks, Marcus Thornton or Chase Budinger would've been better picks for the Cavs. They got guaranteed contracts before training camp even started. Both would contribute to the Cavs, especially Budinger at this point. Both are easily better than Daniel Gibson and would've been much cheaper. Not that they could easily get rid of Gibson however. You have to think that this year possibly, and definitely in the future both of those could outplay Anthony Parker for minutes at the 2 or 3.

Azubuike, so they pass Gibson on the rotation which leads them....not in the rotation lol.
You are correct that in the future they could have taken minutes away from Parker but Cleveland made the pick this season to be flexible with their roster. The Cavs will have another late 1st round draft pick next season if they feel that they need to get someone to challenge Parker for minutes but it wasn't/isn't still a huge need.

They could've just not signed Parker.
I'm not really arguing, I see what the Cavs are doing. But the talk about payroll flexibility and a guaranteed contract is a matter of like what, 800K for the 30th pick? They could've taken Budinger, paid him the 800K and saved a net 3.2M and not signed Anthony Parker. So it really couldn't be about the less than 1M they would save by not having the Congo guy on the roster.
Most likely, it was just they felt more comfortable paying for a more known quantity in Parker. Then again, it was pretty known all he can do is shoot, and I think Budinger may already be more valuable.

Do you watch the Cavs? Parker is pretty good for the Cavalier's on the defensive end which was a major reason why Moon and Parker were brought to Cleveland. Both are lengthy perimeter defenders, so to tay Parker can only shoot is false. Cleveland already had guys who can just spot up and shoot, there was other reasons to bring in these guys.
I highly doubt Cleveland would want to rely on Budinger to come in and start at the #2 with the issues Delonte has been having. Parker is a proven veteran player that will be solid.

If i remember correctly there was a story on ESPN about how the cavs were going to buy a pick to get back in the 1st to select Blair. So tho we did miss with the Congo pick there were trying to draft Blair later.

Hickson is good. I thought in college he was kind of a deep threat too. Has that not translated to the NBA or are the Cavs not running it much?
