Character aside Carroll is one a handful of coaches who have had success at both college and pro levels.
He will need a better qb than Hasselbeck who has totally lost it for some reason then the Seahawks will be good in one of the worst divisions in football.

There aren't many college guys who have had success of late. Carroll was/has been better than Petrino, Saban, etc. But I don't know whether I would call Carroll's run a few years back a "success" either

33-31 was his record. Alot of his losses came in '94 with the Jets (10). He did have a pretty good run with the Patriots. Didn't realize they made the playoffs twice. Definitely not a terrible run. But I feel like they are giving a guy who has been away from the league for over 10 years too much power. He is going to require a King's ransom for his contract too.

I think he can be a good coach but alot has changed since he has been in the pros but he always has had a pro style offense/qb so its not like he is not sharp. I think the Seahawks with some good drafting, trades etc..... can be a a playoff team in 2 years. They have some good dudes and he won't play Julius Jones who sucks over Forsett who is going to be a beast and Carroll should know that firsthand.

Carroll is definitely a bright guy and I'd guess he'll be fine, but many guys who have been away from the league for a considerable amount of time, struggle. Joe Gibbs, Tom Walsh (Oakland OC hired by Art Shell a few years back who was operating a Bed & Breakfast), Sherm Lewis (Washington OC hired a few months back by Dan Snyder to take over Zorn's duties as play caller)
