Westerville North should be really competitive this year. They are lead by seniors returning state qualifiers Josh Grant and Cam Jenkins. They have freshman Blake Wright, who was a middle school state champ last season. They also have district placer Lucas Seibert along with 2 solid upperweights in 220 returning state alternate Mason Hay and Jon Hutson, who will be in the mix in a weak heavyweight division this year. They also have returning district qualifiers Mitch Potterf and Bodi Bien.

Good call. I am hoping Hay has a good year. He snagged lightning in a bottle with that huge upset of Frye at Districts, then unfortunately had to face Lumpkins in the go-to and that has always been a bad matchup for him. With Lumpkins gone (and Kranyak and Crosby) and Frye (likely) bumping to HWT, 220 should be pretty clear other than O.O.'s Bryce Houston. I'm sure others will develop, but I hopeful for Hay to punch his ticket.

Jon Hutson should have a good year as well. He reminds me a lot of Aaron Everett of Lancaster, who had a terrific senior year last year (30+ wins, some tournament titles, etc.). Like Everett, Hutson is a stocky kid who doesn't necessarily produce a lot of fire works but it very steady and can wrestle stubborn (not give up a lot of points, not get pinned, etc.). He's also put in a lot of work over the past few years. Hope Jon has a good year.

it'll be interesting to see what the bottom 5 shapes out. I think Olentangy could fit in there as well. Same with Tri-Valley.

Just based on feel, not any mathematical equation, I would say an early top ten would look something like this:
1.) Liberty
2.) Westerville North
3.) Hayes
4.) Coffman
5.) Marysville
6.) Lancaster
7.) Olentangy
8.) UA
9.) Davidson
10.) Pick. Central

Again, just going off of feel of depth and star power; this could be completely wrong. Please add to discussion.

This year's district I have a feeling will be a little open in certain weights compare to what last year was. I just think that last year was probably one of the better years at Darby!

Does anyone have a list who will be in the district? Any changes like last year with some city schools coming up??

Should be the same this year, last year was an enrollment year where some teams change divisions. After this season they'll do it again.

I think top three is Lib, Coffman, Hayes...although 2 and 3 could flip flop. I've long said that Heffernan and DH have the best TEAM culture in town, and I maintain that now. Marysville right there.

It should come as a surprise to no one that I'll mention Olentangy Orange: they've got district 6th Logan Broskie (160) who has been knocking on the door for a while. Also, Bryce Houston is bigger and better at 220. I think he's right there with everyone, assuming Frye moves up. Hunter Knipp at 182 is very tough. There are quite a few other guys that have made big jumps in ability and weight classes, but I'll keep those in my pocket until Coach Tressler rolls them out in December.

I like the continued evolution of Westerville Central. Coach Carney has the right system in place, we saw that last year. I'm interested ins seeing more.

I don't think they are top ten, but Columbus West is interesting to observe. They made their first football playoff ever at 9-1 with the entire line corps representing the top half of their line-up. I like 195 (a DQ) and twins talents at 220 and 285 all to score at districts. Amadi Bakari at 106, a DQ, is back and looking solid. A sentimental favorite for me, Coach Catheline is doing absolutely everything right. We'll see if, and how, it pays off.

Their program is awesome. From their feeder, to their Jr High, up through the HS they're rolling. - Hayes I mean, Marysville also very high quality program from the ground up.

I think that all 3 Hilliard schools could all fight for spots 7-10 in the team rankings. The Hilliard's have always been strong in wrestling. They are consistent every single season and continue to replenish their talent.

Hilliard Darby is led by returning state placer, junior Jared Ball who looks like he's gonna be at 182 this season after qualifying at 138 as a freshman and placing 3rd at 160 as a sophomore last season. Their next best guy is senior Quentin Thatcher who could be at 152 or 160 this season. He was a state alternate at 152 last season. They also have seniors Tai Bloch & Austin Rayburn who both could be in the mix to make it to the Schott this year at 138/145 respectively. Returning district qualifier, senior Cesar Chamorro qualified at 138 last year and will be looking to make it back to districts once again as a senior.

Hilliard Bradley lost a lot of key wrestlers from last season such as State Placer Will Stratton at 170, State Qualifier Patrick Yeo at 182, and State qualifier Ryan Kraynak at 220. However, they have returning state qualifier Riley Amador who came out of nowhere last year and qualified at 138 as a junior. He will likely be at a difficult 145 or 152 weight class this year and will really have to earn it if he wants to make it back to the Schott. Bradley also has returning district qualifier, senior Val D'Ambrosi who has put in a lot of time in the offseason. Look for him to make noise at mediocre 126 & 132 weight classes as a senior. Bradley also has young-stud Zander Ellison who is a name to watch in the coming years. Went 1-2 at Districts at 113 as a freshman. Could make a lot of noise this year as a sophomore at 113 or 120, whatever weight he goes.

Hilliard Davidson didn't lose a lot of guys from last season. They have all of their best wrestlers back this year, with the addition of a key transfer. Gio DiSabato returns for his junior season and is going to be a workhorse all year long, as he is working towards a state title. Demetrius Monroe was a state alternate last season as a sophomore at 132, and will be in the mix to qualify for states this year at either 132 or 138. The key transfer that Hilliard Davidson has now is 2x state qualifier Tristin Siemer from Bishop Ready. He will be in the mix to qualify at 182 or 195. Davidson also has returning 2x district qualifier Sameh Ayoub, who will be looking to punch his ticket to the Schott this year at difficult 145 or 152 weight classes. Micah Dusseau is another key returner who went 1-2 at Districts last year as a sophomore. Obviously he has Gio to wrestle with in the room every day so he should make leaps and bounds from where he was last year. He will go whatever weight class Gio doesn't go this season, either 106 or 113. Returning district qualifier, junior Hayden Herron will be looking to make it back to Districts after qualifying at 120 last year as a sophomore.

You vying for a job at Inside the Circle? That's a nice breakdown right there.
