Aroundindy.com is a great site that lists events in the area, there is plenty to do.

Zwick I'm 27 so I assume we're somewhat close in age.. Mass Ave is great, Irvington is on the up and up and Broadripple is a lot of fun.

We just stayed with friends in Broadripple when we went to the Indy 500 and we liked it. Our friends love living there, too. We weren't in town long, but I am excited to go back when we have more time to explore.

I went to see Kevin (Brian) from The League do stand up at a comedy place in BR, very cool little area. Great food and so many different beers.

Alright so here's an update... They want me to come on the 13th. I've already had 2 phone interviews. I'm meeting with the "peer team" which is 4 other directors for an hour, then I'm meeting with the VP of engineering who would be my boss for another hour. They wanted 5 references including either a former or current manager.
My sole issue is my wife's career. She has a good job and promising career. I'd make enough that she could stay home, but that's not what she wants. And I don't blame her. She's started looking at jobs in Indanapolis too, but obviously won't be nearly as far along even if she finds something. So I don't know if we just move and she finds something then or I pass it up bc she already has a good job and solid career. She's hesitant to leave her job without knowing what else she can get into. I don't fault her at all for that.

My wife career was alway important to me. It's part of her, it's her passion, it's her security .... We always talked and found the center of the giving and taking. In any relationship there is a solution but that requires a compromise based on faith, facts and long term benefits. You have a family...family first... It's not about you or her it's about what is best for the family. That sometimes means your dreams and self entered ideas have to be put aside for the betterment of the family situation. Between you both it's not about you it's not about your wife .... What is the best solution for "the family".....

My sister moved near Carmel two years ago, I think she's next to Oakwood Golf Course. Very nice area, winding ravines, etc. Good luck with the interview and your plans, Zwick. Hope everything works out.

I'm heading down there tonight after work. I think we're staying regardless of how it goes. My wife doesn't seem too interested to leave her job for Indianapolis.

It'll be a cold day in hell before I ever move back to the boring midwest. Don't get me wrong, I love Ohio but I've been spoiled by the finer things in life and Indiana/Ohio have approximately nothing "finer" about them.

I find certain cities in Ohio, and Indianapolis to be pretty nice and wouldnt have a problem living in them, but the overall quality of life in the midwest is just not for me. Moved to NC (Raleigh) about 3 years ago, and my wife wants to move back when kids start to become a factor in our lives...probably within a year. Ive told her Chicago or nothing. Luckily, she is from a suburb of Chicago, so anywhere around there works for her, because I cant leave NC for any other city in the Midwest other than Chicago.

I'm in Chicago and will probably never move from Chicago.

It has its shitty parts (taxes, property values, poorly run government, cold as fuck in winter to name a few) but overall a solid place to be. And I would never move out of Chicago to a Midwestern city unless it was Cleveland (Browns/Cavs season tickets) or Ohio State (OSU season tickets).

Indy isn't a total shit hole, but it pales in comparison to Cleveland. Cleveland is better in every way.

Well it went well. They called me back today and want me to come back on the 27th and said they'll have an answer for me that day.
Wife is coming around the the idea of taking a few years off to stay with the kids and get her PhD. So.. it could happen I guess.

No surprisingly. It's actually nice year round with temps ranging between 55-73 yr round.

Z4P I had four customers in Indianapolis Wilcox Enviromential, Whitaker Engineering, Malcom Pirnie and HNTB
If you are applying to any of those four I have a long history with each account. HNTB my daughter works for then in Chicago.
All used my services years ago. Anyone of those accounts are very good and aggressive companies. Wilcox and I go back to their beginning as a two man operation.

This is a completely different industry and a new experience should I get it/take it.

This did not sound correct to me, I've been in Indy in every season. It is on average 3 degrees warmer than Canton, Oh (which I think is Z4P area) for every month.
