I am a Bernie supporter because from my perspective there is no alternative. Obama (and my one-time support for him) showed an important lesson about American politics; beware anyone who is in the pocket of moneyed interests, no matter how appealing their stated political principles. Many would argue that any length of time in office would eventually cause contradictions in message and compromise of deeply held principles. However, Bernie himself is the most illustrative example that this argument holds no water. Consistency over the course of three decades is a feat of principle that anyone could hope to emulate. Without the financial independence of running a campaign funded by individuals, absolutely nothing a candidate says can truly be trusted. So... Yeah ... call me crazy, call me a purist, or even an idealist, but as long as Bernie is in the race, he will be my candidate of choice. I will never vote for the status quo again party line candidate again. 1. There are definitely cases where people get elected only because of their district. Pelosi being the first obvious choice. Bachman was another. No way Pelosi is re-elected over and over outside of the ultra liberal San Fran area.
