Baby Sherm is due 2/25. So I'm sorry everyone. There will be another Notre Dame and Reds fan in the world early next year.

For those of you that have kids, what was the moment it all sunk in that you were having a kid?

For me, it was about week 12 of my wife's pregnancy. We had seen the heartbeat on the sonogram at Week 6. And that was pretty amazing. But at that point, it's just that little flutter on the screen. But at Week 12, my wife thought she had lost the baby. We went down to the ER, they did an ultrasound and said the heartbeat sounded fine and that she experienced a threatened miscarriage. While they were checking everything on the ultrasound, the baby started moving around and that's when it all hit me.

We go Monday night to one of those 3D sonogram places. They said they can tell the gender at 16 weeks and guarantee it or double your money back. So instead of waiting another month, we'll find out what we are having Monday night.

The moment she told me she was pregnant changed my view on priorities immediately. I was in college half assing it and working maybe 15 hrs a week. I wasn't worthless but I wasn't too far from it. My 2.9 went to a 3.4 and my 15 hours jumped to 40.

Don't blink man.

I laughed about that as well. It's one of those for-profit ultrasound boutiques. But they say their technicians are so well trained that they can guarantee they are correct as early as 16 weeks. But if they happen to be wrong, they'll refund double the cost of the appointment. So I figured why not go and see what they say?

Thanks! That's how I'm feeling as well. I think there's a part of every guy that hopes for a boy. But I just want the baby to be healthy. Whether it's a boy or a girl, I'll still teach them how to throw a curve ball.

If it's a girl make sure she still does boys chores (i.e.cutting the grass) and shit. We are all about gender equality these days, right?

I understand exactly what you mean. When we found out, I immediately realized that just about everything I thought was important in life didn't mean shit. It was an immediate shift in priorities and all of the other bullshit fell away.

My daughter was born 13 months ago. Our families came to the hospital to see her and celebrate. When they all left for the night and it was just my wife and I with our daughter in the hospital room, then it sunk in.

It'll all be very stressful and overwhelming at first, but you'll get the hang of it quickly. My wife and I had zero experience with babies, but you know right away when they're hungry, tired, teething (the worst), etc.

I wouldn't worry about furnishing the room with a crib and what not right away. You'll probably want the baby in a bassinet near you initially.

The first night you're home and your baby wakes up every hour or so. It'll sink in then lol

My daughter just turned 7 months. It sunk in when I was putting the crib together, painting her nursery, putting the nursing chair together, etc. Putting all her stuff in her room and it hit me pretty good.

No feeling like seeing your child for the first time, for sure.

...when I dropped her off at college. Everything else was easy and relatively inexpensive up to that point.

By the way, try like hell for your wife to breast feed. Clothes and diapers aren't that expensive (IMO) but formula I think is.

This. I still have 2 children at home, but dropping my kid off at college his freshman year was rough.

Dropping off to college wasn't as hard as expected but rarely getting to see her sucks...it sucks. But I know it's best for her. This was our first year of vacation without her [emoji17]

I'm already fretting this and my son is only 2 and daughter is only 7 months. Everyone always tells me it gets so much more fun as they get older, but I'd keep my son at 2 years old his whole life if I could.
