I mean, look at what guys like Edwin Jackson and Ervin Santana got? 11 and 12M a year respectively...both older.
I'm wasn't speaking one word about any kind of contract. Homer was ridiculously overpaid and you can't afford to give Leake too much at all. I just say a #5 pitcher is a #121-150th ranked starting pitcher.

I see him as a reliable #4 guy on a very good team, a #3 guy on a .500 team and a #2 on a cruddy team. He's had 20 starts and given the Reds a chance to win in 17-18 of them.

In a 162 game season with a ridiculous number of pitching injuries across baseball a guy that who is going to be out there every 5th day, does help not overuse the bullpen and gives you ample opportunities to win 75+% of the time.

FWIW 0% chance the Reds sign him more than 5 year 50 million. I'd guess maybe a 10% chance of him signing with the Reds.

Agreed. He won't be a Red after next year.

Hamilton, Frazier, Ludwick, Mesoraco, Bruce

0-19

Cozart, Pena, Heisey, Santiago

7/16

Several of the regulars looked to still be on the break. Frazier was terrible.

Exactly how I hoped the 2nd half of the season would start! Go team!
