Cards won. Reds 1.5 games back. But can't expect this lineup to keep scoring..can we?

No way.

But they did go on a great run without votto a couple of years ago, but with him and BP out it is hard to believe they can sustain this.

Who knows though......when guys get opportunities sometimes they make the most of them and it could be sustainable.

While they are losses, if Mesoraco, Hamilton and Frazier keep it up, and they get slightly more from Bruce and Ludwick, it can continue. Phillips wasn't having a good year at all. Votto was doing alright, but definitely below his capabilities. Also, Zack Cozart can't be much worse.

The key is going to be timely hitting from Heisey, Pena and Schumaker, like they have gotten recently.

Honestly, from an offensive standpoint, I like Schumaker hitting 2nd and the design of the lineup better without BP. Defense is where it's going to hurt.

Regardless, we can all agree. This team needs 2 things. Another bat (preferably, an infielder) and a left-handed reliever. They also need Cingrani to get back to being a valuable pitcher. He's better than Parra, Hoover and Ondrusek.

There was speculation on WLW yesterday about why they have like 14 pitchers on the roster right now. Some thought maybe to showcase some of the relievers. Who knows, or since there was only 3 games left until the ASG they didnt feel the starters need any rest and maybe Price will do his LaRussa impression and using alot of guys out of the pen in every situation.

Some talk about bringing in Dunn. WLW host was mocking him the other night as they dont feel he has any heart to be a winner. He is just a big aloof dude who hits his HR's but doesnt bring much else to the table. I preferably wouldnt think he would be my first or second choice to bring in. Plus.....has he played much in the field in recent years?

Parra has been doing better but I am with you on Hoover and Ondrusek.

I'd be okay with Dunn if the CHW pay most of his salary. He can always play 1B while Joey is out. .362 OBP would help.

He is lazy. He is aloof. He doesn't care. He doesn't work hard.

All silly for a guy who has played nearly 2000 games at age 34.

I agree. He's actually had an amazingly consistent career. You know what you will get from him. He just looks aloof and has limitations that were evident from day one. He just never improved on many of those things. Still doesn't mean I'd pass on him if the deal was good.

I would not pass either but he isnt on my short list especially if the Reds need to give anything away of substance. There are some guys who bring energy to the game and seem be in he middle of everything.

Dunn never seemed to be that guy.

I know I'm a Dunn lover, but the "is not a winner, doesn't care, etc" stuff is ridiculous. They were talking about him not caring about winning on the Reds, but 6 of the 8 years he was on the Reds they were 23rd in ERA or worse, and the other 2 were in the teens. Also he said that Dunn would get 40 home runs but only 85 RBI. False. Had over 100 every year except one where he had 92(when he had 40+ HR that is. It was not Adam Dunns fault the Reds weren't good those years. He hasn't been on any team with any kind of pitching his entire career.

Votto has been making 20+ million for a few years and they've been fine. Spending more money overall has helped. Payrolls have been over 107 million for the last 2 years, highest with Dunn was like 72.
