If you were invited to a wedding of a close friend/Niece/Nephew, would you be more likely to go if the destination wedding (11 hours from NEO driving) was:

1. On Friday July 4th, to have time to go to the beach/ historic city on Saturday and still have time to travel on Sunday.
2. On Saturday July 5th, to have time to travel the 3rd or 4th, but no time on Saturday to enjoy the area.
3. Would probably go regardless, 1 day of vacation on Thursday wouldn't matter.
4. Wouldn't go to a wedding that far away regardless of date.

close friend...yeah I'd go but pick option #2 if given a choice. More flexible option in that may have to work the 3rd. That means I'd have the 4th to drive there. If I get off on the 3rd, then I could go early and enjoy the 'destination' on Friday if so desired.

11 hours away? That's a key phrase for log on the the gift registry, buy something, and stay home over the 4th.

I try to go to all of my friends' weddings.

I also tell them as long as it's not between middle of August and beginning of November, I can probably make it. That's my busiest work time and I cannot get away, EVER, on a weekend or weekday.

If you do a Friday wedding make sure you repeat this to your vendors several times. We had a Friday wedding and called two the day of who thought it was Saturday. It ended up ok but don't assume they will get it right.

first of all - fuck anyone who has a wedding over a major holiday. Second, depending on the friend i'd go.

I used to think that way also, but now I'm of the belief that I'd rather not use a vacation day to go to someone's wedding than a holiday. Oh well, to each their own. None of my fiends that I know of and have ran this past has had a problem with it or ever has any real plans. Now they'll be able to hang out with all of their friends anyway.
