You know it for a fact that Manning is the OC and Gase has nothing to do with it?

I've decided to take Gil Brandt's analysis of Gase over SE's. I feel good about my decision.

He'll if Gase declines after we wait we can always call Jim Tressel, cause he'll still be there.

Stop. SE is the exclusive insider for anything related Browns.

Even if the likely exaggeration is valid and Manning is the de facto OC, that doesn't prove that this guy can't coach.

Not saying Gase isn't a good coach, he obviously wouldn't be where he is if he wasn't. IMO, this franchise needs a proven winner. The browns have been a joke since they returned to the league. Stop trying to outsmart ourselves by trying to strike gold with an unproven commodity, and hire someone that has shown they can win.

Not sure I agree with this, look at Patty boy.

Gase by all accounts has been a huge part of the Broncos success this season, not just Manning.

That's a short list. The skill set between assistants (including coordinators) and the head coach is so different, I would argue that no assistants without head coaching experience fills your requirement.

That's my point, I don't want an assistant. I want a head coach that is a proven winner. I know you have to start somewhere as a head coach, but rarely are you successful in your first head coaching gig.

How do you feel about Munchak. He has HC experience but his record was 22-26 in Tennessee.

Personaly i I don't think he really did anything with Tennessee and they never really improved. I also read he kinda resigned because they didn't want to keep his guys in place so I'm not sure he would take the Browns job unless he could have his guys and some bit of power.

They interviewed Zimmer last year didn't they so he would be ruled out. BTW I think Zimmer is the best coach available and better then those already hired.

When did I change my mind? He still wouldn't be my top choice, but id easily take him over munchak, mcdaniels, the Green Bay QB coach, Schiano, and whatever other fuck yard would be rumored.

Id go zimmer, whiz, Quinn.

Whenever you have the chance to hire a 22-26 coach you gotta do it.

4 of the last 5 Super Bowls were won by first time head coaches. If you extend this and look at all-time, it is 34 of 47.

2 of those 4 Super Bowl winning coaches I don't think I would want to coach my team. (Mike McCarthy and Tomlin)

The Browns will not hire Zimmer. That would mean that they would have to admit they interviewed the right guy last year and just overlooked him. If they hire Zimmer Banner and Lombardi would have to go.

BTW if the Lions hire Caldwell that will make for some easy betting in the NFL. He is a more modern art shell

How many first time head coaches have failed during that period?
