The way I read his post is that the Browns would be dumb to pick any of the QBs of note with the #4 and that if they were to get JFF, it would be from trading their second first-rounder in other to move up a bit with that pick.

I don't think he will be gone. I just don't think they want a QB at 4. I personally think they will go in another direction.

Got it. I'm really unsure of what they are thinking. Every year I go in thinking we're definitely going to take player X and we take player y. This year I'm thinking we take a QB, and we'll probably end up with Watkins lol.


All I know is that I'm going to be happy no matter what (because I like the direction the team is going in) unless we take Derek Carr at #4. If we take Derek Carr at 4, I am done. I literally will take a year off of my Browns fandom and just root for my fantasy team. Other than Carr at 4, I'm pretty much happy with anything.

No it isn't. I wouldn't go RT at 4 personally, but I don't think it would be a horrible pick.

Hint: it wasn't.


PFF graded it as the #12 line, and 18th in run blocking. When you have two pro bowlers and grade out that low, it means the other 3 guys pretty much suck.

I really wish the Draft was tonight like its supposed to be, love the mocks and all that but each one of them is so drastically different.

Though I gotta say I do like that it seems the Browns are backing away from the QB's (Smokescreen?) as I've said from the beginning I personally wasn't high on any of them, just hope that we land one of the 4 consensus "blue Chippers" in this draft, or trade back to acquire more talent.

I'd be more than Happy with Clowney, Robinson, Watkins, Mack.

Though we don't necessarily need any of the 4, if you can select one of the guys, everyone but IQQY/FW believe to be as can't miss as you can be, you have to do it.

I also wouldn't be opposed to moving down to the bottom half of the Top ten, picking up another 2nd/3rd this year and another 1 next year.

taking a RT at 4 has nothing to do with wage scale and everything to do with draft slot value/position value.

Taking Robinson at 4 would be the worst thing we could do unless one of these unlikely scenarios is happening:

1) We're trading Joe Thomas
2) We're trading Greg Robinson and couldn't get a trade done before the timer
3) We can see the future and Joe Thomas tears his ACL.

I love Robinson the player/prospect and think he can be a perennial Pro Bowl LT but it's about the value added and there's way more value we can add to our team by going elsewhere at 4.

Oh stop. I was crazy about weeden from the start because you could just tell he was gonna suck yet people were drinking the kool aid.

I have no idea how the QBs in this draft are going to do, I just want the browns to get one and hope they do well.

Do you disagree that there are areas of greater need? Would you rather upgrade the QB position or the RT position?

Yeah but we were 5th in pass blocking and that run blocking stat is misleading when you break it down:

We were rated -40.6 in run blocking as a team, comprised of the following studs:

Oniel Cousins -3.1
Shawn Lauvao -12.9
Gary Barnidge (TE) -13.7

In reality it was much closer to or better than league average and should only improve going forward

Yeah, any run blocking is going to look bad when you are blocking Trent "can't hit a hole unless I'm in a strip club" Richardson and ol man McGahee.

I am able to just watch our line and realize that it is one of our strengths and not a position that we need to be spending our top pick on.

A great RT, unless you have a lefty QB, is more of a last piece to finish your offensive puzzle. Sort of like getting great bench depth in baseball. You really work on that once the other pieces are in place.
S&L is right, the OL seemed to be solid enough that other spots need addressed before you worry about the RT

I guess I am in the minority, but I wouldn't QQ if we drafted Robinson. In 2-3 years he can take the LT spot, and JT could move over to RT. I don't see the problem with drafting a can't miss tackle, QB with #26. For those who want Watkins, the draft is deep enough at the WR position, not sure why we have to get one at 4.

Also, go back to the 2012 draft. What would you rather do? Trade up for t-rich, or draft Kalil?

I'm there with you in regards to Robinson. Agree the draft is deep in the WR crop, but I would want Watkins ahead of anyone else if Mack, Robinson, Clowney off the board.

Yeah, I guess I wouldn't hate Robinson. Any time you can add a good player, you should be happy.

Just think we should improve an area of weakness with a top player rather than an area of strength.

Which is an even better point than the one I'm making, which is the blanket general statement that a RT should never be taken at 4.

I think a QB not named carr will drop to us. I just have a gut feeling. I am all about trade downs though, so if Watkins fell to us I wouldn't QQ if the browns traded a few spots (emphasize a few) down.

I think a team like Detroit, maybe Tampa would trade up for Watkins. And dropping back that far "should" net us a 1st next year, plus additional 2nd/3rd this year.

I'm higher on Carr than you are, but I wouldn't take him at 26 either.

Also agree that either TBW or JFF will be available at the 26ht.

On Sports Illustrated right now there is a video interview up with Don Banks of teams feeling the most pressure this draft.

First team he mentioned was the Cleveland Browns, and the dire need to end this year to year QB drama once and for all and walk away with the right guy in the first round.

To the rest of the free world it seems so obvious, hopefully those in Berea are taking notice if they already haven't.

They are.

I believe they have just 2 QB's on their roster? Teams go into camp usually with 4 QB's...they need the arms. They will get one in the first round, then maybe pick up an undrafted FA or regular FA after the draft.
They will draft one in the 1st round.
