Not even invited, which means they're not even one of the best 100 teams in the country...what an embarrassment.

Embarrassing season but not surprised we didn't make the NIT. Need to shake things up and maybe it's time for Thad to go.

bucked up 9 hours ago9 hours ago If Matta wants to turn this thing around the first thing he needs to do is dismiss Dave Richardson (strength and conditioning coach). Great work habits start in the weight room and carry over to the hardwood. As DeAngelo Russell pointed out, the weight room was frequently empty during his time at OSU, and it's obvious that hasn't changed.
Richardson has been here since 2005 and even during Matta's halcyon days his teams were prone to blowing staggering leads in the second half, an obvious sign of poor conditioning. Jared Sullinger, William Buford and Laquintin Ross were all among the fattest prospects at the NBA scouting combine during their respective drafts. Fat mammaries and large guts are all fine and dandy if these players wanted to spend all day jiggling their man boobs and making silly faces with their guts, but they are not acceptable for aspiring pro basketball players
It's as if the staff is afraid to add muscle and strength to the players. We always have low post big men that can't shoot, yet they spend 3 or 4 years here and never gain any size and strength that will allow them to outmuscle their opponents in the paint and on the boards. Amir Williams, Dallas Lauderdale, Othello Hunter and even Evan Ravanel could have been physically stronger than every big man they went against with the right strength program.
Basketball titles are and always will be won with hustle on the defensive end of the floor and strength on the boards. And the easiest way to excel at both of those is to have a strong S&C plan in place.
I would agree with this. S&C is extremely important when you aren't one of the blue bloods who gets top tier recruits year in year out.

Despite the fact that Thompson was in foul trouble a lot and Potter often looked a bit outmatched at the big-school DI level as a freshman, Bell still couldn't get on the court, other than brief moments of time here and there, so I don't think he was ever going to make an impact. If he couldn't last year, he never was going to.

Not really. Like Thompson from last year. Put name out, talk to people, come back knowing what you need to improve on to have a chance of making real $$$ after one more year. In his case, shooting over 20% from the field after opponents change from Is This A Real School University to Big 10 teams would be a nice start.

Yeah, everyone wants to leave; it takes an act of god to get anyone higher than 3-star to want to come unless they are a C-bus area resident; and with a couple exceptions, the guys who are staying seem to have real issues with essentials like "playing hard consistently" and "working together".

All we need is for someone to get arrested and the program will reach official train-wreck status, falling to that level from the one right below elite in record time for teams that didn't have NCAA infractions dragging them down.

Results are one thing, but when recruits are saying this out in the open, I don't care what else is going on, it's over. College basketball is about 2 things.

1. Getting the most talent
2. Developing that talent quickly

Matta hasn't done either lately. It's inexcusable for a school like Ohio State, with their resources and history, to not be winning at least 20 games every year.

Well, every team, no matter how good has had seasons where they haven't won 20 games, so "every year" isn't accurate. But OSU is in serious trouble because they're currently showing their bad stretch isn't one of those fluky "LOOK! COACH K'S BACK IS FUCKED UP SO ALL THESE LOSSES DON'T COUNT ON HIS RECORD!!!" seasons, but a legit problem that doesn't seem like it's going away with the way things are being run now.

We're on the way to having one teammate shooting the tires out of another teammates car at this rate...

In today's NCAA, 20 wins isn't hard to get. Not when teams who go to the NIT can play up to 39 games.

Ohio State also gives Matta 9-10 guaranteed wins in the non-conference schedule lately, though some of those haven't been gimmes like they should be. It's what cracks me up every time Ohio State tweets something about Matta's overall win %, though I do still appreciate the hell out of what he's done as Ohio State's coach. It's time for a change though.

Tried to tell everyone this when Matta decided to go after him, after most schools backed off.

CBF had a hard-on for the kid, cause he WAS a top 15 player in that class. He ignored me when I tried to say he would be a head case and bad for the program, despite his talent.

Maybe Kelsey Mitchell can divide her time between teams?
