Ok, then give me the 80's. I still win. I just used the 60's as an example. I believe that today they're better than anyone, I've made that clear so I don't care who you put them up against.

I'm not sure if I've ever disagreed with you more on something than you thinking Howard is better than The Dream.

Howard is nothing like the Olajuwon. He could hit a shot from farther than 2 feet away from the basket. The Dream would own Howard and did own Shaq in the 90s.

The best players of the 80s are better than the best players from today, though not by a huge margin or anything. If you made a team with the ten worst players from each era though, today's team would kill the 80s. The athletes are just much better today top to bottom. Paul Mokeski would have to buy a ticket to get into a game today (Yes I remember the Cavs great Paul Mokeski).

I still dont know how a young pup can say the 00's were better when they never actually watched full seasons and playoffs in the 80's early 90's. Instead of the Dream, I would take David Robinson. And nobody has mentioned Pippen in their post?

Not that I do not disagree with most of your post, but this is the most absurd thing I've seen today, and I had to watch CNN for a hour at the gym.

I think the younger guys a couple images in their head. For this decade, they picture a long and lean super explosive guy like Dwight Howard or Lebron. For the 80's, they picture a very white Larry Bird wearing tight shorts and plodding up and down the court. They see the highlight reels on ESPN today showing a guy with an explosive dunk or taking a shot from 28 ft. and believe it has not been done before (or so well). For this reason, they seem to think this era > than the 80's. As you and I know, they could not be more wrong.

Since they did not watch the games when we did, they did not see the skill set demonstrated on a nightly basis. Since ESPN does not play a daily highlight of the plays from the era, they think the players were not capable of making said plays.

It's hard to compare 2 deep players against each other, but I'd say the only positions the 80's has on the 2000's would be PG, and SG. I'd like to see Kareem/Akeem try to stop Shaq, it wouldn't happen. Lebron/Melo way better than Bird/DJ, and a push with Malone/Barkley vs. Duncan/Garnett? Really? I'll take both 2000's over those players.

If it was that good, why not just show those games instead of the current ones?

Quit living in the past old timer.

I agree with all of them except Kareem< Shaq.
No one can stop the Skyhook, and he used that shot even far away as 15 ft from the basket, Shaq couldn't make a shot outside of 6 feet to save his life plus Kareem could shoot free throws very well where Shaq has to be taken out of close games in the 4th because he can't shoot Free throws.

The opinion of someone who said Bill Russell and Magic Johnson cannot be considered "All time" Great players is irrelevent.

I notice these new age people dont remember Shaq played 8 years in the 90's when he was a more dominant force and scorer then the last 9 years. I remember the days when Shaq played for Orlando and would bring the rims down on dunks, and they had to be Shaq proofed. And also, Duncan played 3 years in the 90's with D. Robinson as the Twin Towers.

lol do you know wh y us "young pups" think the old timers cant do some of the stuff that the new age players can do?

For example, MJ dunked from the fouline(big deal back then)....Welllll.....Vince Carter jumped OVER a 7 footer, James white put the ball between his legs from the freethrow line ect ect. The Athletes, the training, the technology and the early age at which players are being molded now are all superior to the 80's. Stop hanging on to your pipe dreams that your childhood heros would hold a candle to the new age

Alot of these players careers stretched over two decades so thats why I kinda struggled with my picks and thats why I chose Shaq over Kareem because Kareem was way more dominant in the 70's

So basically dunking is the only thing in basketball? I still want someone to prove that the new age players play fundamental bball, and defense as good as the 80-90's.

MJ dunking from the foul line was a big deal back then because no one had seen it before, it doesn't mean no one could do it. Nobody had thought about doing it and then DR J did it and Jordan got creative with it.

If you score, whats it matter if you're fundamental or not? And im not saying dunking is everything no, but players now can shoot JUST as good as back then and are more athletic. If the NBA would LET players play defense and not call touch falls every 2 seconds then these players could play JUST as hard of D as the players in the 80's did. Its easy to play D when you can body the hell out of the other players and hand check them and get no foul calls on you like they used to let you get away with.

Yeah there weren't any athletes in the 80's. Most of these are from when Dr J was well past his prime.

Thats not the point. Some people want to act like there weren't athletes who were just as good or better from the 70's or 80's. How many of the athletes today are using performance enhancers to get that way???????????
