A lot of the Panthers struggles this year was them trying to be too cute with Cam Newton and install a read-option offense. You see Seattle and Washington dabble in it but I'm talking the Panthers tried to fully commit to that up until the game against the Bears in November. It finally clicked that they had to play more prostyle and use the read-option sparingly and that's when the Panthers offense started to be successful. I'm not a huge Chud fan but I think he's proven to be a capable OC. This. If you know offense, you know defense. If you know defense, you know offense. It won't be to the same lengths, but the knowledge is there. A HC just needs to be a leader, see the 3 phases as a whole, and hold the coordinator accountable. I've always been a fan of a HC who is the overseer, not a play caller.
